You know, if Bemidji goes on to win the tournament, it would be the equivalent of a 128th seed being elected president of the moon.

They might make the final, but I think BU/UVM winner would smoke them if they do.

Both those teams can skate circles around them.

So yeah, I think I agree!

imafrshmn

Who do we root for in BU/UVM?  I'm assuming UVM.

Not I, here's a copy of my post on the Must Read thread
QuoteWell, being on the other end of this, yes it's me they were referring to, I will find it hard to ever root for Bemidji. Their fans at the games were tasteless, at least the ones we had contact with. The group behind us, who obviously started this thread, were drunk for the ND game, and they had little kids with them. Tonight the band had to deal with a group who went to sit behind them and heckle them. Finally the rink staff had to escort them out.

Last night I threw Snickers to some of the kids, so what happens tonight; I throw them some and they whip them back at us, with obvious intent to hit someone, not playful as if to say we don't want it. Then as it became clear that they would win, they heckled us. Fortunately that didn't go on too long, but I was concerned about what they might do after the game. Gladly, nothing.

No I can't see rooting for them, and I generally like the underdog if I don't have a favorite. Classless.

I'm rooting for UVM and wearing the jersey.  I've been waiting 35 years for a UVM title, only 20+ for a Cornell one.

And for those not partisan, UVM fans are really much mor fun than BU ones.

1) Always cheer against BU.

2) My brother is excited about being able to yell "We love Beavers!" in Washington all next week.::banana::

3) Bemidji is trying to get into the WCHA.  Ya think this might help their chances?

Jim, thanks for the on-scene reporting, as always.

Actually, I have no allegiance to any of the remaining teams.  I just needed a subject line to point out the fallacy of the graphic that ESPNU kept running (and ugarte mentioned in the game thread): That Bemidji State advancing to the frozen four would be the equivalent of a #64 seed in basketball making it.  Which, of course, is utter nonsense.

I don't think it matters who roots for Bemidji.  They don't stand a chance against either Hockey East team.

It might be more like the lowest-ranked team in the sweet sixteen advancing in basketball.

Do a Google search in two weeks on "bemidji hockey cinderella" and you'll see how great journalist minds think quite alike. That will be the next story line.

Nothing wrong with hoping Bemedji does well.

KenP

They didn't blow out CU.  They won 3-1 with two ENGs.  ::cuss::

ftyuv

4-1 with one ENG, no?  Maybe "blow out" is a tad too strong, but it certainly didn't come down to the last minute.

I'll be rooting for BU to win the final 27-0.

If we have to read "2009, Bemidji State" in the record books for the next 40 years, you know what we'll be thinking.
