Note that I've been having trouble connecting directly to undernet, so I've resorted to picking a server from http://www.undernet.org/servers.php

In my case, the nearby one is irc://diemen.nl.eu.undernet.org/lynah but you shouldn't use that particular unless you happen to be in Europe.

I used to use chatzilla, which was part of the full mozilla suite before they carved it up into pieces like firefox and thunderbird.  At the moment I use something called xchat, but I don't know what the best one for Windows is.
