From Cornell's latest news digest:

NBC will air Sarah Hughes: A Life in Balance on Dec. 25 at 8 p.m. Eastern time.  It is a "one-hour family special showcasing the grace and style" of the Olympic gold medal winner "both on and off the ice," the network says.  Sarah is the daughter of John Hughes '70 BS, '71 MBA, '74 JD and Amy Pasarnack Hughes '71 BSHE, '74 MBA.  Her brother David is a student at Cornell.  The program is expected to look at Sarah's college search.  Some scenes were filmed on campus when she visited Cornell.

I'm sorry to confuse things, but I thought I'd read in The Cape Cod Times that the Sarah Hughes special would be shown on Sunday, December 22.

I just checked TV Guide's online listing and it lists the Sarah Hughes special at the time and day Beeeej listed.

Is next year here yet?

Cornell got a few seconds of TV time the other day when, during the "Big Finish" on Pardon the Interruption, Tony Kornheiser declared, "She should go to Cornell where her dad played hockey!"

As much as I enjoyed seeing her in the Olympics and her appearance at MSG that year, I think this special sounds like overexposure.   Hasn't everyone seen, read, and heard enough?

A special about her college search?  Is that newsworthy to the genearl public?  I'd think she and her family would enjoy some privacy about this matter.

Although I will say that the show will probably be better viewing than the NBA doubleheader...who needs six hours of that?????

Doesn't Kornheiser's daughter go to Cornell?  I thought he mentioned this in his tribute article on Dick Schaap.

And if you look closely in the back of the set where all the heads-on-sticks are, there's a Cornell football helmet.  At least there used to be.

When the show first started, the Cornell helmet was prominently displayed on the desk (along with Wilbon's Northwestern helmet).  It has sinced moved back among the clutter.

Tony's always good (especially on his radio program) with giving shoutouts and mentions to certain facets of his life...Binghamton, Cornell, certain LI towns, etc.  I'm sure if we make it deep into the NCAA's (knock on wood), we'll get a good mention from him.

(Last year after he went to pick his daughter up in May, his opening radio monologue Monday was about the advertures/horrors of packing up and bringing one's child home from college.  Quite amusing...especially for my parents, who I had listen to it....anybody listening who has gone through the experience could easily relate.)

Not to confuse things again, but the local tv guide at my parents lists the Sarah Hughes special tonight (Sunday, 12/22) and a different skating special on Christmas night.  The one on Christmas features music by Charlotte Church and skater Nichole Bobek.

tvguide.com for New Orleans Cox Cable lists "Sarah Hughes: A Life in Balance" (which I originally read as "A Life in the Balance" which makes it sound like she's in mortal danger) at 7pm CST Wednesday the 25th.  Tonight they list American Dreams, L&O:CI, and Boomtown.

Sarah's show is at 7pm EST tonight on the Boston and Providence NBC stations.

Brad Chartrand's Kings are on ESPN2 tonight at 8pm EST

Well, she is considering Harvard. ::nut::

Those looking for an alternative to Sarah at 8pm Christmas night can watch an ESPN Classic rebroadcast of the event that made Lake Placid famous.;-)
