As of about 10:20 am today, Nov. 7, they have placed the 2002 IVY CHAPMION and 2002 NCAA TOURNAMENT banners on the rafters of Lynah.  Man, are they beautiful.
Sitting in section D, the new section B.

When Yale finished first in the 97-98 regular season they raised an "ECAC Champions" banner (since removed, I believe) the following fall.  Is it safe to assume Cornell did not do the same for last year?

Cornell has never had regular season champ banners (Ivy being the exception since there is no post season). You can leave that for program who have less lofty goals.

Honestly, if Shafer had his druthers, they'd probably wouldn't have put the two new ones up.

Although, as has been pointed out, the last time Cornell won a RS championship before 2002, it did not officially exist (since the ECAC didn't play a balanced schedule until the turncoats left).

But I can't imagine Schafer would have gone along with a "2002 Cleary Cup Winners" banner in any event. :-D

If anybody has (or would care to make) a nice photo of the banner-festooned ceiling, I'd appreciate it.  I've never been able to make one (it's so damn dark in that barn).

I'd love a nice photo of the big banners on the open end wall, too (even though the new versions look like mylar garbage bags, rather than the old, classy, felt ones, grumble, grumble...)

Well, I need to go back over there today to try to extract one end of the ethernet wire which has been thoughtfully zip-tied about 15 feet off the ground. I suppose that's better than the alternative, considering Phil wanted to remove it from the rink. I really don't understand this place sometimes. Anyway, I'll try to get a shot then.
