And Fallon, UVM's goalie, is 11th.

Also of note is the fact that in this motnh's The Hockey News, Pokuluk was ranked 30th or 31st among ALL players eligible for the draft, meaning he might sneak into the 1st round.

No, McKee was just not picked in the years he was eligible (which is age based) and is now a free agent.

It's no huge slight either. Lots of kids who turn out to be wonderful college hockey players are undrafted. For example: Peter Sejna, the kid who beat LeNeveu for the Hobey.

So what is it about McKee the NHL doesn't like? Not only is he not a top prospect, but not even drafted. The scouts looked at McKee and concluded that, unlike LeNeveu, he does not have a chance of playing in the NHL. What are they seeing?

Probably one of the major reasons he wasn't looked at in the draft was because he was playing in texas in not that great a league.

IIRC, the large majority of Hobey winners have not been drafted. So Mitch Carefoot is clearly in danger of not winning the Hobey.

Being from Texas no doubt hurt his standing. (Though his previous team did travel a lot outside of Texas IIRC.) Amateur drafts are all about potential, or rather perception of potential. It's much harder to demonstrate big time potential playing against lower level competition.

Also, keep in mind that nobody really thought of McKee as a big time goalie prospect when he came to Cornell. He had a solid freshman campaign, but nonetheless Schafer challenged him to raise the level of his game at the start of this year (assuming I'm remembering my game story quotes correctly).
