A bit of praise for Cornell's fans, jersey, and teams from INCH last night:

More than a few Minnesota fans seemed shocked (SHOCKED!) during the playing of the national anthem before the Gopher-Black Bear game when the Cornell fans in attendance (as per their custom) yelled “RED!” when the song gets to the part about “rockets’ red glare.” Apparently, when the home fans yell, “…home of the GOPHERS!” it’s OK, but when some uppity Easterners decide to have some fun, it’s trouble.

PLUSSES AND MINUSES

In an era where hockey uniforms can get overly busy with logos, stripes and colors, here’s a shout out to the beautiful simplicity of the Cornell combination of sweater, breezers and socks. Red and white, and no b.s. in between. The person who designed Colorado College’s third sweaters should take a lesson.

Cornell wing Matt Moulson picked an opportune time to join the Big Red’s Century Club. His assist on Mike Iggulden’s go-ahead goal in the third period was Moulson’s 100th career point.

I like this attitude from Schafer:

â€œThis is a tremendous opportunity for our program,” said Big Red coach Mike Schafer. “One of the things in the media â€" not in the players’ minds â€" but the media all year long has kind of questioned who we played, and where we’ve played and what we’ve done. What better opportunity than playing Minnesota on their home rink, with an opportunity to go to the Frozen Four. An opportunity and a challenge like that doesn’t come along like that very often.”

Yeah, maybe Topher will break a stick over his head to get us fired up!;-)

Maybe I've been too hard on INCH over the years.  Usually, I call them biased morons (which wouldn't be so bad if they were purely a fan site, but given their "association" with ESPN, I think they're trying to be a legitimate news site...and usually failing), but if they can genuinely appreciate the simplistic beauty of the Cornell uniform (which should really extend to a lot other ECAC teams), they can't be that bad.
Is next year here yet?

FWIW, I've been saying this:
[Q]In an era where hockey uniforms can get overly busy with logos, stripes and colors, here’s a shout out to the beautiful simplicity of the Cornell combination of sweater, breezers and socks. Red and white, and no b.s. in between.[/q]
for years.  It's nice to see others agree.

Agree wholeheartedly.

That other stuff looks like NYC subway graffiti from 30 years ago.  INCH has also had us as #1 in their rankings for a number of weeks now.  My sense is that early on in their existence they gave us little respect, but that sure seems to be changing.

And for Schafer, beating Minnesota on their home ice to advance to the Frozen Four this afternoon would be his 200th career victory which is probably the last thing he is thinking about right now.
