Geez, John, it's a freakin' subject line.  Do you expect proper grammar in newspaper headlines?

Beeeej[/q]

No, but I do expect a regular contributor to eLynah's editoral content to proofread so he doesn't any words out.

Work is no longer an excuse to live near an ECACHL team... :(

I don't get it.  "This Week's Column Up" is a well-formed headline, like "Schafer to Coach Red Icers".

 good idea, solve some of the boredom between games maybe... like its better than playing a nhl video game and focusing your team on past Cornell players.

(like ganderson i also in all practicality have nothing to do)[/q]

Hmmm... NCAA vs NHL video games:  The NCAA hockey video game doesn't presently exist, but then neither (at present) does the NHL.
:-D
Yale?  MIT?  Cornell's the only one with a hockey team worth a *#$%!

This is precisely the reason why I want to buy the game NHL 2005.  The title is just hilarious. :-}
Is next year here yet?

IMO, nothing wrong with "This Week's Column Up."

As others have noted, we're getting bored having little to do this weekend other than a) rag on Clarkson fans (who are to verbal abuse as sponges are to water) and b) hope Clarkson comes through over Union so we get another crack at them. At least in Ithaca you have the lacrosse game vs Notre Dame to watch. (Radio, no WebTV. Sheesh.)

Ummmm.... I'm pretty sure that was deliberate to prove his point.  Or if not, it's funny enough to pretend it was, so lay off a brother.

Precisely my point.

Maybe John's just feeling really old and is starting to get bitter.  I hear his twenties are ending soon.   ::twitch::

As a grammar police veteran, I don't get it. What's wrong with it? This week is a possessive. It is possessing the column. So why is that wrong? I don't think it's supposed to be read as this week is column up.

Indeed. It was intentional. However, it isn't original.

It's from a William Safire "On Language" column that was published November 4th, 1979.
