Has anyone heard when the season ticket line will be this year?  The wonderfully helpful people at the ticket office have not been of service.  Thanks

The student ticket sale will take place during the weekend of Oct 2.  Line numbers will be issued to students immediately upon arrival in the line.  The line will begin when the first student shows up.  Once a student receives a line number, they must be present at all line number checks through Oct 2.  Athletics will be performing line checks during the hours of 10pm and 6am every night, and from 6:30pm on Friday Oct 1 through 8pm Saturday, Oct 2.  Seat selection will be Saturday night rather than Sunday morning.

Here's the "catch".  In order to place some restriction on the duration of the line (the university does not want people forming a line 3 weeks prior to the sale!), the where's and when's of the line will be disclosed at a later date.  So once the line location is released, students may show up, get line numbers, and be ready to spend their nights validating their number.

Athletics will be issuing a press release early next week (Sept. 13) describing these procedures.  The specific line information will be released later in month on the web site and via other means (probably WVBR and WHCU).  This information will also be delivered via an existing e-mail list serve called the "Big Red Bulletin".  Athletics will be updating line number information several times daily via both the Bulletin and the web site once line numbers have been issued

To subscribe to BIGREDBULLETIN-L, send the following command to listproc@cornell.edu:

   SUBSCRIBE BIGREDBULLETIN-L Firstname Lastname

where "Firstname Lastname" is your real name.

The Bulletin is delivered every Monday morning listing all home events for the coming week.  It is used purely for informational purposes and contains no solicitations.  I believe the web site also provides a list serve feature.

As in past years, each line number still represents two seats, and students will still be permitted to hold up to two line numbers, thus allowing for split shifts.

This plan was proposed last spring by several student assembly members in cooperation with athletics staff, and has received the OK from university brass.

O my g-d, the ideas we came up with at the SA meeting (it was one SA member, Ben Rocky-Harris, and me if I remember correctly) will actually be happening.  Great news.

This is similar to the line process from the early 90s except that they did not issue line numbers immediately back then.  Since a web site didn't exist, the line location was announced through the Daily Sun and VBR.  Since those media outlets needed advanced notice, especially the paper, your place in line was directly proportional to the degrees of separation between you and a staff member of the Sun or VBR.

My thoughts exactly, Christine.  Same system as before but probably a more fair method of announcing the procedure.  Giving out line numbers immediately should prevent the stampede of '91.

Is this the first time in over a decade that we all agree that the administration seems to have gotten it right?

Someone from the AD's office should contact the White House about how they minimize leaks to ensure fairness.

Don't worry, I'm sure they'll find some way to screw it up once again. :-D
Is next year here yet?

Wow - I'm going to have to change my USCHO tagline to "The Lynah Line is BACK!"

(since last fall, it's read "Bring back a REAL Lynah Line!")

Ari-
I'm pretty sure Dodger916 has a finger or two on the pulse of the inner workings of Cornell Athletics.
(I couldn't help but notice the e-mail address)

wow, procedures seem to be 100% in line with what i suggested as well
...only now that i have finally graduated

so i wonder how long in advance the location of the line details will be disclosed
