I'd much rather play Harvard than Colgate. Maybe it's just as well that Dartmouth won the seeding tiebreaker.

If Union wins, Harvard goes to Lynah regardless of the result of the other game, which happens to start two hours later than the proceedings in Schenectady. We'll know earlier who will be in Ithaca.

But if Yale beats Colgate, then we wouldn't have to worry about Colgate anyway. Nor would anyone else.

Let's hope Yale does everyone a public service tomorrow.

I am terrified for playoff Cornell/Harvard, if it happens.

I'd be more afraid of SLU. The Saints will get a Cinderella moral boost if they win. Harvard is playing so uninspired that I think we've got a much better chance of beating them in Lynah.

There was no possibility of us playing SLU next round (or really any round).

We are definitely more likely to lose to Harvard than any other possible opponent but at least we probably can't drop out of the NCAA tournament if we get swept by them.

Really? I like our chances against Harvard better than our chances against Colgate. I sent the following to my daughters earlier, explaining my rationale.

"I think I'd prefer Harvard. 1) We beat Harvard twice this year. Colgate games were tougher. 2) We beat Colgate in their barn in this round last year. They will want revenge. 3) Colgate beat us at Lynah in this round a few years ago. 4) Colgate would bring more fans. 5) Harvard Sucks!"

I just think Harvard is a better team than Colgate so therefore they would be harder to beat. I wouldn't read too much into a small sample (Colgate we beat and tied* whereas Harvard we beat twice). The other stuff you said is fun talking points for fans but doesn't have much bearing on how we match up with those teams this season. It's safe to assume whomever we face will be motivated and trying their absolute hardest.

*losing in 3x3 OT is closer to a tie than a loss and doesn't have much bearing on the postseason, which is all 5x5

Going into the postseason I'd have ranked possible opponents in the following order of difficulty:
Quinnipiac
Dartmouth
Union
Harvard/Clarkson/Princeton
Colgate/St. Lawrence/RPI
Yale
Brown

I can certainly see your points.

One more point for me preferring Harvard would be that that also means tougher opponents for Quinnipiac and Dartmouth. I'd love for us to make it to Placid and for one or both of Quinnipiac and Dartmouth not to.
