Unless Cornell can avoid costly turnovers, this isn't going to end well again. Bucknell has a big offensive line and a pretty good defense. What I'd like to see:

1. More running plays out of the I formation, and less pitch out plays to the RBs.
2. Start to integrate more of the underclassman, especially this years freshman class into the game. Might as well start building for next season when Sam Musungu returns from his injury.

I think the person who operates the camera for our lacrosse games is working today.

I would have been nice if Cornell called a timeout with 20 seconds or so left and tried to block the kick.

Well fought first half, up by 2 points, 9-7. I fully expect the team to keep it close for most of the game only to give up 40 in the last two minutes.

Cornell 9 Bucknell 7 at the half. At least one of my hopes for this game has happened. Leading rusher at the half with 51 yards is Air Force transfer Jordan Triplett. Also freshman RB John McAuliffe has 31 yards.

Now let's see a freshman QB.

How did that happen?

Utilizing a running game in the offensive game plan.

Cornell used a lot of running, got the score to 23-7 after three, 30-7 five minutes into the fourth, then Bucknell caught fire and got two TDs 6 and 12-1/2 minutes in to make it 30-20. Cornell's next position lasted all of 22 seconds, Bucknell moved quickly past midfield, got intercepted, Three Cornell kneeldowns were enough to run out the clock.

A very good game. but how much interest? Almost 24 hours after the game was played, there are less than a dozen comments here on the team's first win and some decent play. And only 4200 showed on a pretty nice day.

That's the kind of thing that happens when you lose the first four games of your football season.

With decades of less than mediocre football and so many other successful programs it's hard to get the fan base too jazzed up. But I will say it was good to see the coaching staff insert the young RB's into the game, and they all played well.

I was out of town and following on my phone. Appreciated the updates but was trying not to post too much.
