Cornell Hockey Celebration This Thursday, April 17

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell and Ithaca communities and all members of the ìLynah Faithfulî are invited to Lynah Rink this Thursday, April 17, to help celebrate the 2002-03 Cornell menís hockey season.

Starting at 7 p.m., the eveningís program will include a banner raising ceremony, the Big Red Pep Band and comments from head coach Mike Schafer and selected players.  An autograph session will wrap up the evening.

This event is free and open to all.

The Big Red finished the 2002-03 season with a trip to the NCAA Frozen Four.  The team posted a school record 30-5-1 overall mark and finished as the ECAC champions with a 19-2-1 conference tally.  Cornell had the nationís top defense, allowing just 1.36 goals per game and had the top penalty kill unit as well, clicking at 90 percent.  The offense (16th, 3.69) and power play (14th, .226) were also nationally ranked.
