Cornell   4  4  5  6 - 19
Harvard   3  1  3  4 - 11

Jeff Teat 8 points (5G, 3A) on 10 shots. Petterson 7 points (5G, 2A) on 5 shots. Piatelli 2G, 4A. Chase Ierlan in goal, 11 GA, 14 SV (64%), Bullen 0 GA, 1 SV in late play. Cornell led by as much as 11 in the 4th.

Harvard after winning the first 12 (?) FOs finished 21 of 33 (Rasimowicz 9 of 21). Harvard's top FGO, Kyle Massimilian (yes, the brother of Cornell's Domininic), a sophomore, was 19 x 27.

Cornell forced 16 Harvard turnovers, Harvard forced 10. Cornell now looking better going into the game at Syracuse Tuesday. (I'm scared to look up the Orange's faceoff percentage tho.)

Game got a little scrappy late and I believe I heard the Harvard announcers say ~ "Cornell working hard here to maintain its role as the most penalized team in the Ivies." Actually Cornell got 5, Harvard 3.

This evens Cornell's Ivy record at 2-2 with the two toughest teams (Yale, Penn) already played. Penn plays at Brown today 4 pm, Yale defeated visiting Dartmouth handily (gametime, 3 pm). At the end of the day, Cornell will be 4th in the Ivy standings.

Cornell shooting accuracy at 10 games played (10+ goals scored):
Petterson    35 x 52  .673
Piatelli     33 x 60  .550
Teat         25 x 59  .424  + 29 A = 54 points
Donville     16 x 38  .431
McCulloch    13 x 45  .289

Ivy League scores
Penn 16, Brown 9
Yale 20, Dartmouth 8 (Green closed to 7-6, outscored 13-2 rest of the way. Yale 82 shots.)
Cornell 19, Harvard 11
Princeton 14, Stony Brook 4 (9-2 at the half)

Penn      4-0  6-3
Yale      3-1  7-2
Brown     2-1  4-6
Cornell   2-2  7-3
Harvard   1-2  5-5
Princeton 0-3  4-6
Dartmouth 0-3  2-7

Notes before the game:
Saturday at 5-4 Harvard, 12 noon, at The Stadium. Cantabrigians have beaten nobody notable except Albany by 1 (just like Cornell), took them 3OT to get past BU. We beat Dartmouth 15-5 last week, Harvard the week before, at home, beat them 12-9.

Cornell is on the road four straight, ending RS at home.
@ Harvard
@ #13 Syracuse Tuesday 6 p.m.
@ #9 Notre Dame 4/14 12 noon (Palm Sunday, if the Cornell schedule is correct)
@ Brown 4/20 12 noon
  Princeton Schoellkopf 4/27 noon

Be nice to finish the season 4-1 or (is this possible?) 5-0. We could also go 2-3 (I would not mouth the words 1-4). We are 1-2 in-conference with three to play and could, conceivably, not make the ILT. I think we'll be a middle seed with a 4-2 record, worst 3-3. Yale and Penn will get the first two seeds, actually 3-0 Penn may get the 1-seed, so could we face 2-seed Yale in game 1. Brown is 2-0 Ivy now with wins over Harvard and Princeton and are about to be 2-2 with Yale and Penn the next two weeks. We have come a long way since the win over #1 Loyola Towson. Just not up.

The Penn loss put the Red in a must-win situation this week. LGR!

EDIT:

4-3 Cornell after 1Q. Cornell has lost all 8 faceoffs. Harvard FOGO is the younger brother of former Cornell superstar FOGO Dom Massimillian. Caused turnovers by Cornell keeping them in the game. Offense is stretching out possession time to keep the defense rested.

Cornell 5, Harvard 3, Teat's first goal midway through period 2. Ensuing faceoff, Harvard makes it 10x10.

Isn't there some lower-level movie star or Wall Streeter with a stud HS FOGO who wants to get in the old-fashioned way, with resorting to the checkbook?

Cornell 6-3. 11th faceoff, appears to be another H win followed by an infraction giving Cornell the ball.

Cornell 7, Harvard 4. Cornell finally wins FO on a procedural call on Harvard.

billhoward

Cornell   4  4  x  x  -- 8
Harvard   3  1  x  x  -- 4

Harvard winning FOs 12-2. Cornell winning caused turnovers 10-4. Teat has 3 goals on, like 2 shots. Harvard announcer says Cantabs are "lucky" to be down by just 4.

billhoward

Cornell rolling and it's 12-5, 3 minutes into the third. And I keep thinking what the score would be like if we just want half the faceoffs.

CU77

Harvard announcers are very good. I'd take them over any combo of Quint, Carc, and Anish.

billhoward

Cornell adds 5, Harvard 3, to make it 13-7 after 3. Math is not in Harvard's favor.

Teat 4-1 on 8 shots
Petterson 3-2 on 3 shots
Ierlan 11 saves on 18 shots 61% (Harvard sieve is at 50% exactly)

margolism

Didn't get much better for H.  Cornell adds 6 more in Q4.  Harvard scores 4 in Q4 as well, but it seemed like Cornell was playing a lot of reserves on D.

CU77

Nice win! On to the Dome on Tuesday!
