I know it's sacreligious to wash my jersey, especially since we haven't lost whenever I wore it, but I have to admit, the white starting to look a tad bit grey.

So, I need the advice of those who've had their jerseys for a long time.  What's the best method of washing these things?  Quick cold cycle wash and a brief drying?

Thanks for your help.

Umm. . . .the tag on my game worn reads:

"MACHINE WASH COLD. DO NOT BLEACH. HANG TO DRY OR TUMBLE DRY LOW. DO NOT IRON."

There's nothing special about a jersey.  Just wash it.  Hang it up to dry though.

And wait ten days or so before doing anything. :-D

Not even so positive about the hang dry - I've always done cold machine wash and most gentle setting in the dryer, and never had anything approaching a problem with that.

Any ideas for sharpie-autographed ones?  Dry Cleaning?  My jersey has gone to a few too many games without being washed....  Though I am thinking of retiring it at the end of the season.  Anyone willing to help me out in getting a poor Bostonian a game-worn?

i am of the philosophy that u dont wear an autographed jersey. if it means enough to u that u wouldnt want it to get washed off... then dont wear it  - but that is just me :-) of course mine isnt autographed and i dont know what i would do with an $85+ jersey that was autographed if i didnt wear it..where is Joe to autograph my jersey so i have to decide ;-)

Section A

Has anyone had problems with washing a jersey that has signatures with  a permanent marker (i.e. a Sharpe)?

[When I'm not wearing mine, I hang it up on the wall (with a piece of cardboard in it to maintain some form) from a pipe that runs across the ceiling]

I always just dry-cleaned mine out of fear of it turning into Carnellian Red and Pink... ::yark::

I've never washed my signed jersey.  I have been told by dry cleaners that it shouldn't be a problem.  Of course, washing it  would involve me trusting them and I haven't gotten up the courage to do that yet....

I have a few jerseys and wash them often.

I  just put them inside out and wash warm with regular detergent  and hang dry.

If it's really stinky use a box of baking soda along w/ the detergent.

I have two sweaters with autos and they only have minimal fade, one on the #'s the other on the mesh. To me the auto's are special but a clean jersey is more important....

Don't be paranoid, all the gamer's are washed regularly by the training staff..
