HSBC Arena Setup

As the top seed, will we get the Sabres bench?  The HSBC Arena seating diagram shows that the Sabres attack the 310 to 316 side twice.  Can anyone confirm whether this applies to us?

Beth and I will be in 301.  Does  102/103 imply that Cornell is shooting in this end twice (like at Providence) or the more traditional defending the end twice. Will the Band be be in 327?

The handbook for the games says the top seeded team gets to pick it's bench, and thus which net they'll defend twice.

Does anyone know how many rows the 300 level has? I'm looking at various ticket options on eBay (I have myself, but trying to get more for friends), and I'm just curious if various tickets are only partway back, or all the way back, or what. Also, if someone knows the HSBC pretty well, how good/bad is the view from the front of the balcony? from the back?

IMHO, the seats in the front row of the 300 level are the best place to watch the game. The first two rows are separated from the rest of the section because those seats are padded. rows 3-20 (about) are seats without padding. Normally, the first 2 rows cost 15 dollars more, but all the seats are the same price for the Frozen Four, so if you can get the first two rows, go for it. EDIT: I sat in the corner in about row 18 for a Sabres-Leafs game once, the place was packed and emotions were running high. They were fantastic seats and I felt a part of the crowd.

Of course, you can feel really separated from the crowd in the 300 level, so that may be something you want to take into account.

They aren't lying when they say there isn't a bad seat in the arena, wherever you are you will have a good view of the game.

In summary:
Beautiful arena, crappy hockey team :-P

I've only attended a Sabres game once, about 6 years ago.  I remember that the upper deck was very steeply pitched.  It's a big place, and I felt far from the action up there.  I don't remember how the acoustics were, since there isn't college-style cheering at NHL games.

 If you look at what he did at the ECACs and Regional, I think he structured the bench and goalies to mimic the setup at Lynah. That is, looking from the bench side, the CU bench is on the left and we defend the left goal for periods 1 & 3. That's how I remember it, I could check the tapes to be sure, but I think it makes sense and I don't see why he'd change now.

Thus, I suspect our bench will be 105-106, and defending 111 for periods 1 & 3.

Having said that, I'm in 303 for now, so I guess I see offense.
