Not only should he have been included in the list of Hobey finalists - He should have won.  Clearly he'll prove this during the NCAAs.  But in the end he'll have what only the rest of the finalists (except Lenny) won't have - an NCAA championship.

I think Ben Eaves might disagree with that statement.

I hope you're kidding about the Hobey "robbing".  :-D

No more so than the people who used to stuff the ballot box for Houle. ;-)

Jim Hyla

Well, my two cents. I think Baby is our MVP but Lenny will get it. I can't argue with that too much. I think he should be MVP for the league as well. However for the Hobey, he doesn't have the star power to get it. Much like a defensive lineman, he's never going to get the recognition he deserves. I'm just grateful that the ECAC has an award that he so rightly deserves. Winning it two years in a row shows how dominant he has been.

As an aside, as I'm too lazy to look it up now, do the other leagues have the same variety of awards as the ECAC?

Baby is a lot of things: excellent defenseman, intimidating enforcer and apparently (I'm not insider enough to know this) an inspirational leader.  What he isn't is the team MVP.  LeNeveu is in the process of putting together the best (top 3, conservatively) season in net in NCAA history.  Give a lot of credit to the defense, I won't object, but our goalie nullifies all of the (infrequent) mistakes that our defense makes.

When we look back on this team we will be nostalgic for Baby, but we will tell our kids/grandkids - to the point that they stop listening - that we saw Lenny play.

I'm with Hyla.  Baby makes this team go--the heart and soul.  Moy and Blaeser are right in picking him as ECAC POTY.  The numbers don't tell everything.

Houle wasn't a finalist (Todd White was in '97) , just like Baby.  How often have their been 2 finalists from the same school?

Dunno, Rich, but CC has two this year.  Probably hasn't happened often.

I'll be nostalgic and telling my kids / grandkids about Baby.  Right now its all we talk about at family gatherings anyway and I can't imagine it will change much.
