I'm looking for the old UNH, Brown, CC, and Maine Logos.

UNH:

I've been searching for the clean "UNH" logo that predated the recent "snazzy" logos and also predated the squarish logo with UN at the top and H plus the wildcat on the bottom. The one I'm looking for just has the very simple "U.N.H."

Brown:

Looking for the clean "B" logo, with the B in Brown's brown color. This predates both the current incredibly retarded looking angry bear with claws, and also the cute paw prints.

CC:

I don't know if there is any other CC logo than the shield with the yellow tiger on black background, but if there is, especially a cleaner more traditional version, I'd love to know.

Maine:

Again, no idea whether there was a logo previous to the straight-on bear head, but if so I'd love to know.

If anybody can point me to a color gif, jpg, bmp etc of these, thanks in advance.

Greg,

Here are a few Brown pics, they're not exactly what you described but they are better then their Athletics logo (cough):

Option A: http://shop.aecustomfactory.com/brown/2nd_tier_selection.asp?p.criteria=6&p.key=647&p.pageNo=13&s.criteria=9&s.key=@&s.pageNo=1
Option B: http://shop.aecustomfactory.com/brown/2nd_tier_selection.asp?p.criteria=6&p.key=647&p.pageNo=17&s.criteria=9&s.key=@&s.pageNo=1

U Maine. . .there wasn't much other than the University logo on their hompage      : http://www.umaine.edu

There wasn't anything other than you described for CC & UHN ::screwy::

Greg Berge

Yeah, I've done dozens of obvious and non-obvious searches and looked through the university and athletic sites, logo archive sites, etc.  The only way I'll get lucky is if somebody has seen some obscure page that just happens to have an old emblem on it.

Greg,
I have every (or near to) Big 4 school's logo (for the most part, their athletics logo, but not in all cases) --they were downloaded in Dec '96 (not sure why I did it, I'm sure I had a reason). I don't think I have the exact designs you're looking for for those four schools, but the ones I have may be alternatives to what you've found. And I do have some ones that have been scrapped (Yale's Bulldog head with action lines, Miami when they were the Redskins, old UVM, skating Brown bear with hockey stick, older Dartmouth "D" (I think), old N'Eastern Huskies, etc.) Unfortunately, many of the images are small/so-so quality, but they may still interest you.

EDIT: BTW, I have a higher quality Cornell Bear image than the one you're using on TBRW? that you may want.

Sure, by all means send me the better bear.  ;-)

I've got the Brown and CC logos, still looking for the others.

Greg, you should just use a picture of those fans holding up "UHN" for your UNH pic. ;-)

Is next year here yet?

Greg Berge

I had been thinking about the "Cambridge Community College" banner for Harvard....

jason

Will do.

The UNH logo I have predates the current stylized/cartoon wildcat logos. It has an anatomically faithful wildcat face in front of the letters UNH. That's probably the one you're describing as not seeking, but I'll send you that one, too, just in case.

For Harvard, I kind of like the pilgrim face in profile logo that they have (not sure if that's new or old).

There's a pilgrim face?  I recall the skating pilgrim silhouette -- likely the least intimidating team logo in the history of sport.

I actually like the Harvard coat of arms logo, but it scales down *really* badly.  Generally speaking this is a problem with complex logos.

How about the skating Friar of Providence?  And I have no idea if the Oxymoronic Fighting Quakers ever had an actual Quaker in a logo.

My vote for least intimidating still goes to the old UCSC Banana Slug logo.  I mean look at him.

As opposed to the new "tough" banana slug with an attitude:

For the record, (I am 99.9999% sure that) Penn isn't - and never has been - the "Fighting" Quakers, although they are often referred to that way.  Up until a few years ago, Elon College was the Fighting Christians, though.

Well, add another 9 for me.  I know that they aren't "fighting", but their own band makes that joke, and it's funny to me.

I think it is pretty funny also.  I was so disappointed when I found out that it was just a myth.
