Week two not as good (in categories that show up in the boxscore). 1 catch for 6 yards and one punt return for -2 yards in a 35-21 loss to the Patriots.

I didn't watch the game, but from the box score it looks like Walters didn't have much opportunity to impress.  The Pats only punted twice, and one was downed at the Chargers' 6 yard line, and he was only thrown to twice.  I don't think you can draw any conclusions from this (though those who saw the game might have more to say).  Next weekend the Chargers play the Chiefs, who kind of suck and just lost their best running back, and will probably be punting more often, so perhaps Walters will have more opportunity to show what he can do.

Might as well make this the general "Alumni in the NFL" thread.

There is an article in today's WSJ about Kevin Boothe stepping in to be the Giants' starting center this weekend. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970203388804576615552718487710.html?KEYWORDS=boothe

And confirmed on NFL Radio. Baas (sp) is listed as "out" for this week.

Walters with no targets, no returns. If he's hurt I haven't heard about it. I fear he has fallen off the radar in SD.

Someone who watched the game can report on Boothe's play.

On Giants' final drive with < 2min on clock and NY driving deep in red zone trailing by about 4, it appeared Kevin missed a snap count causing a 5 yard penalty. On next play, Manning gets intercepted and run back for a TD.  Snap count error might get some blame because there was enough time on the clock to run the ball, but penalty yardage caused the pass play call.

Pretty much the whole O-line, Boothe included, played like crap on Sunday.

Is Walters not playing?  Has he been replaced as the regular punt returner?  SD has Crayton returning punts against Jets, and he's been terrible.

Also, according to Mike Garafalo at the Star-Ledger, fans are wondering why Boothe doesn't take David Diehl's starting spot at left guard when Chris Snee returns to right guard after the bye this week.  The reporters even asked the coaches about it.  I think it was Coughlin who said that Boothe is too valuable as a backup because he can play all five positions with no notice.

The reason we haven't seen Bryan Walters on the stat sheet is because he hasn't played since week 3. He was cut on Halloween but resigned to the practice squad two days later.
