Notes from the game (running):

FIRST QUARTER
Cornell taking it to Binghamton 4-0 five minutes into the game. 2 points for Pannell. Cornell has won some faceoffs.
7:30 into the game, Binghamton gets a save, a clear, and into the offensive zone. For about 30 seconds.
12:00 in it's 7-0 Cornell on a Pannell goal. He's 2-2 so far. But we do lose the ensuing faceoff.
13:11 in it's 8-0. Cornell, that is. Binghamton tries a new goalie. Quarter ends 8-0, Cornell. Cornell wins all but 1 faceoff. Pannell 4 points so far (or 5?). One shot at (on?) goal for the Bearcats.

SECOND QUARTER
Cornell announcers already talking about Cornell trying different combinations of players. 3:00 in, Binghamton gets its third offensive possession in the box.
3:25 in, Mike O'Neil gets his 2nd goal. 10 seconds later, Jason Noble (isn't he supposed to be at the other end?) scores. And then Pannell from a long way out. Eleven-zip. Ain't gonna be this easy with Virginia or Syracuse.
5:20 in, Dan Lintner gets his first for Cornell.
13:00 in Binghamton gets its first save of 2nd Q and then Cornell goes EMO. Cornell brings in first line. Mock gets extra-man goal at 13:33. 13-0.
Cornell called for a push at 14:58.
End of half. Cornell 13-0.

First half stats:
Shots 33-4
GB 22-10
FO 12x15 Cornell
Clr 3x3 Cornell, 3x5? Bing
EMO 2x2 Cornell
Bing 2 saves, Cornell 1

Third quarter
Cornell survives the BU EMO that carried over from the 2nd period. Andrew West in goal for Cornell.
Binghamton gets on the board at 4:29. 13-1. This is where Hobart got on a roll last week.
Less than a minute later, Cornell now outscored 2-0 in the third. 5:30 in. 13-2.
Cornell plays keepaway in a wide box the rest of the quarter and ends it leading 13-2.
Stats after 3: Shots Cornell 39-13, FO CU 12x17, Cornell EMO 2x3, Cornell 6 saves, Binghamton 12.

Fourth quarter
4:00 into the fourth. Is it possible Binghamton shuts out Cornell in the second half?
Would be nice if Bearcat camera crew brought a sunshade for the main (ahem, only) video camera.
Let's hope Pannell, Fiore, Noble don't get frostbite on the sidelines.
10:00 in, Cornell still scoreless (2nd half). I love symmetry - imagine if both teams get shutouts for a half.
13:35 Binghamton gets its third goal - 13-3.
15:02 Binghamton gets its fourth - 13-4.

Postgame
CU announcers note D Max Feely when he was in shut out Binghamton's top scorer, sophomore Matt Springer, just as he shut down Hobart's top gun.

Max Pannell 3-5--8 ties his career high for points.

If this were back in the era of the 18-year drinking age, it would be a very pleasant bus ride home with a couple cases of Jenny Cream Ale.

Whoa. 6-0 already.

Make it 7-0 after an EMO goal. Cornell is leading 11-1 on faceoffs and Binghamton currently has 0 SOG.

Now 11-0. This is crazy. Goals 10 and 11 were 4 seconds apart.

What a snooze the second half has become. I almost drove up to Binghamton to get an early season lax fix before remembering we're at Army on Saturday, scene of one of our greatest if long-ago triumphs, the 17-16 win over Army that propelled Cornell to the NCAA title game in 1971. Army should be a good game.

Nice to see we won a solid majority of faceoffs today.  If we are even decent in that area we will be in solid shape.
