Jarred Seymour, 1990 birthdate and a 3rd round pick in the OHL draft. He's from Australia, Chris Heisenberg has him listed as 6'3" 195lbs, he plays for Stouffville of the OPJHL. He's listed by Heisenberg as an '08 (or more accurately, not listed as an 09).

this was said about him on hockeysfuture:
"He's a big, rushing defenceman who is tough to beat one-on-one and smart on the ice."

and I saw this commentary on his OHL draft year:
"3rd round--Jarred Seymour (D) is a big guy, and getting bigger all the time. Now listed 2 inches above his 6'3" draft size, Seymour has been toiling in the Greater Toronto Hockey League this season, as a member of the Toronto Marlboros' major midget team. Seymour is an Australian national."

Which makes it seem like he might be 6'5". Right now we have 4 defenseman listed as coming in for next year, and one committed for '09. It seems like things might be a little crowded on the blueline, even if one of them defers.

If he can mark up the opposition in our own zone and not let them skate down the slot on our goalie, then there will definitely be spot for him in the line-up. Maybe even a starting spot if he can make a good first pass on the breakout. ::help::

We need SIZE! I just want big goons who can play defense, can stand up to Clarkson goons, and are immune to syphilis. Think Varteressian!

Austria? Australia? McKee from Dallas worked out okay, so an Aussie might not be such a reach.

We had an Aussie (well, a Canadian Aussie). He worked out OK also.

Looks like Heisenberg has changed the listing and now Jarred Seymour is listed for either 2009 or 2010. That makes a lot more sense and leaves our blueline with more traditional numbers (assuming Sean Whitney defers until 09 and we bring in 2 in '08 (Ross & Birch) and 2 in '09 (Whitney & D'Agostino).

If he's really 6'5", 195lbs right now, he's going to be a big guy by the time he steps on campus.
