From the Winter 2007 issue of the Hockey Newsletter:

"Our newcomers in goal have always risen to the challenge of carrying on the tradition of goaltending excellence and we expect that to continue.  Troy Davenport '09 returns to Cornell after having a great year in Des Moines, Iowa, and winning a league championship.  Ben Scrivens '10 from the Alberta Junior League was a league all-star and possesses great natural ability.  Dan DiLeo '09 returns from last year."

What are the chances they might platoon goalies until the playoffs?

Well so much for my theory of having too many goalies. We just got a commitment from Michael Garman of the Nanaimo Clippers for 2008.

Hope someone in Nanaimo is getting a nice Christmas card from the Schafers.

Something tells me they won't be carrying four goalies in 08-09.

"Dan DiLeo '09 returns from last year" seemed a little brutal following the blurbs about the other goalies.  They could have made it worse only by putting it in its own paragraph. ;-)

In the season preview from the Cornell website, it wasn't much better.

Dan DiLeo returns for his second season despite not having seen any game action as a freshman. DiLeo missed a large portion of the year due to an injury that kept him out of practice.

"We really don't know what Dan is capable of," Schafer said of the second-year netminder. "Last year was a bit of a lost year for him athletically, but he's back healthy this season and is ready to compete for playing time."

The Clippers' lockerroom door should be a replica of Eddy Gate.

Right, and the NCAA will probably be all over our backs for recruiting inducements made out of season or somesuch. Or for not also sending Kwanza and Chanukah cards, too.
