Will we move up in national polls?

I know most people don't care too much about the national polls, but for those that care at least a little...

I think we might have a pretty good shot at moving up this week. We were the only team in the top ten to win two games. Boston University, at number ten, only played one game and won it. Everyone else in the top ten actually lost at least one game this weekend. Except us, of course.

I guess we will see tomorrow, but I am optomistic.

The polls don't matter.  (Have to say it every time.)

That said, I imagine we may leapfrog Wisconsin to #4.  I don't think we should (#5 sounds about right at this point in the season), but it might happen anyway.

Also, Minnesota didn't lose any games this week, because they had the weekend off.  Last week, though, they swept Wisconsin.
Is next year here yet?
The polls don't matter.  (Have to say it every time.)
Why bother? Particularly because they do matter (to the extent that anything about sports matters). They don't matter for getting NCAA bids or national titles, but they matter for recruiting propaganda, bragging rights against rivals and pride. There are a lot of reasons that the polls are silly but I still get a charge out of seeing Cornell climb the ladder and my heart sinks when they fall. So, at the very least, they matter to me.

the top 5 will be:

1. Minnesota
2. Miami
3. Cornell
4. B.C
5. Wisconsin

And to say we don't deserve to be there is the dumbest thing i've evr heard in my life. We are right there in the pwr rankings as well. My guess is heading into the ncaa tournament cornell will be 2nd in the nation and earn the second number one seed.

OK, just for fun...

1. Minnesota
2. Miami
3. Cornell
4. BC
5. Wisconsin

Looks like Mike beat me to the punch, probably while I was still looking up recent results.  Well, I'm sticking with this anyway.

Hope you're right. There's nothing like a good old "Cornell is overrated" thread on USCHO :-D

They're up already, and the poll hasnt even come out.   ::screwy::
03/23/02: Maine 4, Harvard 3
03/28/03: BU 6, Harvard 4
03/26/04: Maine 5, Harvard 4
03/26/05: UNH 3, Harvard 2
03/25/06: Maine 6, Harvard 1

Looks like Mike and I got our placement of the Red right, but missed BC and Wisconsin.  Though if you look at the points, places 3-5 are all virtually interchangeable.  We could just as easily have stayed at #5.

Pollsters seem to have a three-tier view right now:

1st and 2nd
3rd through 5th
The rest of the contenders

Any upsets in the Beanpot could throw things into turmoil...or it could play out as expected and not change things much at all.  Guess we have to root for Sucks tonight, eh?  I'd gladly give up my Harvard-BU prediction (which probably should have included BU over BC in the final) for a Harvard win tonight (damn, it's hard to actually type that).  Otherwise, we might all be looking at BU getting one of those #1 seeds come tourney time.

I only know that NESN is carrying the games.  Being just outside Boston, we get it.  Don't know how far it reaches or if anyone else will carry the games.
