Outstanding performance for a first game of the season by Cornell.  Really really impressed by what I saw tonight.  Barlow call was a makeup call on the Chris Abbott play.  Brutal call.  Defensemen struggled to clear the front of the net but that's pretty standard in the first couple weeks of the season.  Crowd was spectacular tonight, including the much-criticized Section B.  Among the loudest games I have ever seen at Lynah.

3 Stars:
3. Pokuluk
2. Carefoot
1. Chris Abbott

Indeed it did, and I think it may have been my fault.  Here's what I kept on typing as I tried to get elf to refresh.

good goalie, bad goalie going on as mckee makes a series of nice saves.  cornell catches a break as the whistle is blown without the puck covered.  about two min down, three to go with the penalty, and elynah isn't letting me post.  cam just completely knocked someone down and it looks like 5x5 hockey.  high sticking on msu - goons.  cowbell!

lots of good shots by msu, but mckee is better.  pk almost killed.  msu pushes into dave, while he's covering the puck, mckee retaliates a bit, then skates away.  sasha and some msu frosh with an unwritable name are off for the skirmish.  penalty killed - go red!  6:18 left for the red.

more against the boards, in our end.  crowd getting on potter - apparently they've picked up on his goon status.  that boy should watch out for some vicious chants tomorrow.

mckee making more saves...let's get it out of our end, boys.  lerg of msu playing well, but not well enough.  o'b cleared into the crowd, got the whistle and no delay of game.  pep band pictured, icing on cornell.  2:40 left, and townies are up.

msu working on throwing anything they can at the net.  cornell continually frustrating them, and lynah is getting louder and louder.  2 min left.  timeout msu, 1:37 left.  gary glitter going again.  pegs and cam abbott almost got a eng, because vicari's been pulled.  icing on cornell as cam attempts a shot from the opposite end of the ice.  extra skater for msu seems ineffective, as cornell uses it's pk skills to mess with them.  mccutcheon almost scores an eng (it would've been his first goal, ever, at cornell), misses by about a foot, so moulson chases it down and puts it in.  MOULSON!  with an assist from mccutcheon.  keys from the faithful (not that it makes sense), and cornell's WON!!

final score: 4-2
shots in our favor, 18-16, according to the picture of the scoreboard, though i think that may have been left over from the second period.
cornell stars of the game from wchu: 1st: dave mckee, 2nd: matt moulson, 3rd: chris abbott, with msu's drew miller as an honorable mention

cornell did a hell of a job for their first game of the season :)

I think McKee had one of the best saves i've ever seen last night. Full out split when the puck found its way to the stick of Lerg (i think...) who tried flipping it over McKee's leg but was robbed by an amazing glove save. The look of amazement on Lerg's face right afterwards was priceless (sometimes there's an advantage to sitting in G  ::nut:: )

HAha!!! I saw that. I thought the puck was going in for sure. I don't know if it should be called a "good save" because there was tremendous luck involved there.
