Is there any way to block the spam we've been getting lately? It seems to be posting as if the spammer were a regular member of the forum. I suppose the powers that be (Greg?) have already deleted the spammer's account, but the repeated spams suggest the asshole is just creating another one.

What about blocking the spammer's IP address or even the spammer's domain?

Do any of you have other suggestions?

Greg has no power here.  He is only pawn in game of life.

I have assumed all the crap we are seeing is automated.

Captcha added to registration for an account?

This actually might work. The spammer would have to know what a sieve is in the context of this board.

This way, we can say to future spammers, "it's all your fault!"

This topic was covered years ago.  Either Age or the moderators had decided that a low bar or no bar was better than a Captcha or whatever.  I don't remember why they favored easy access.

Human monitoring of new members involves labor perhaps more labor than occasionally erasing the effing spam.
"When we came off, [Bitz] said, 'Thank God you scored that goal,'" Moulson said. "He would've killed me if I didn't."

And besides, where else can I learn about online roulette simulators?

Any spam detector would delete 90% of Trostsky's posts. Is that something we are willing to accept?

I'm thinking 90 is the median.

A detector of possiblespam, one that (e.g.) turned a web page colors once spam is detected on that page, and a way for end users to avoid the spam is all that's necessary.
