The Ohio State University has won their battle to register as a trademark the word "The" when used on clothing or apparel.

But have they copyrighted "TOSU"?

It's like those guys who give themselves nicknames. It's just a bit off bubble.

Wait. Are we talking about a copyright or a trademark? If its copyright, I'm going to copyright all the other articles and personal pronouns in several languages, so I can start getting royalties for use of my copyrights. If it's a trademark, that's a horse of a different color! To enforce use of the trademark, one would have to take any violators to court. And doesn't this mean that henceforth whenever anyone uses theĀ® word "the" in a written document, they'd have to write "theĀ®"?
