Quote from: BeeeejWait, you're giving credit for correct predictions to "W" when the result was "T"?
No.  If that's the case someplace it's an error, but I do not see it.

Sorry, you have it right. I was on the one hand dinging myself for only one wrong when I also got the home 'gate game wrong, and on the other thinking of 8 as a "perfect" score. I clearly wasn't awake yet. :-)

The optimists can do now worse than a tie for first with BearLover. (And I didn't even need the playoff possibilities script or anything to work that out!  :)  )

Trotsky

With one game to go I think we are all rooting against BearLover to join the winners, including BearLover.

BearLover seems to bring everyone else together around here

He's been a lot better this year.  Cut him some slack.  If I lost a friend every time I said somethi--

I pointed this out earlier in the year, but he has been very insistent that a bad ECAC would be good for us, and while I think there's at least some amount of coincidence going on, the ECAC is very bad and we are very good.

Correlation isn't causation, but... fair point.

Some people on this forum think having high expectations and not rooting for our rivals who crush us every year makes me a troll. The reality is that I'm one of the few recent graduates who is willing to push back against the ELynah hivemind and the arguments I've made on here have largely been borne out.

I know a number of people around my age who are big fans of Cornell Hockey and know of this forum but aren't keen on posting here because there is an Elynah Established View and those with dissenting views are shunned. Those of us who saw three NCAA tournament teams in our four years at school might have higher expectations than a lot of you, and those of us who saw Cornell get thrashed by Yale for four years straight might have felt disgusted watching them win the national title before we do (in our lifetimes). 90% of the posters here are pleasant even in disagreement. It's the 10% who compound not knowing what they're talking about with being very rude who have led to the nastiest arguments. Which I don't mind--it's an internet forum--but just because I disagree and push back doesn't mean I'm trolling or trying to upset anybody. I'm happy to admit when I'm wrong, such as when I thought Schafer couldn't recruit/coach a speedy/skilled team (though I never advocated for firing him, despite some on here believing I did).

On the topic of rising tides lifting all boats, there was never any evidence that a poor ECAC meant we couldn't complete for top recruits or a national title, so it's not surprising to see that in a year with a poor ECAC we are competing for top recruits and a national title.

BearLover

(and yes, on the topic of high expectations, I'm aware a number of posters were students for the national championship years)

CU2007

Good stuff, BearLover. I learned about "Group Think" when I was at Cornell. Discerning opinions are very valuable. And at the end of the day, it's an Internet forum. Who really cares?

Another supporting example of BearLover's position is this year in lacrosse.  UAlbany plays in one of the 2-3 weakest leagues in DivI.  In spite of that, they have been competitive in the tournament since Siebald's days, recruit very skillfully, and this year maay just win the NCAA championship.

The streamn of our game with them next Saturday is free.  Watch if you dare.::uhoh::

We've had our disagreements, but I'm glad you stuck it out here. I've gotten more interested in advanced analytics because of you and that other person whose handle eludes me now (css something?), and that's made following these past few seasons from afar a bit more fun.
