For those of you who would prefer not to eat another meal of arena hotdogs, may I recommend the Parkside Rotisserie & Bar (at 76 S Main St
Providence, RI 02903)?  Sophisticated menu and excellent food and atmosphere.  On-street parking.

Enjoy....

Cassarino's restaurant in Federal Hill is quite yummy, and good for anyone looking for an Italian meal.  casual, but not _as_ casual as a brew pub.  Plus they take the Entertainment card if anyone has one.......

Union Station Brewery downtown isn't bad either.

The mall downtown has the likes of.....Fire and Ice (large grill, select your own stir fry), Cheesecake Factory, Pizzaria Uno, Joe's American Bar and Grill, Dave and Buster's, etc.

Union Station Brewery has been a regular stop before the Brown game.  It's run by the same folks as John Harvard's and has a similar menu.  There's also an Irish pub called RiRa's in the same complex.  Haven't been to the Providence version but there is a counterpart in Burlington that I like.  Good pub food and they know how to pour a proper pint of Guinness.

Some advice from a friend of mine in grad school at RISD:

[q]i can try to name a few places for you guys to go, but i warn
you...providence is NOT new york...i repeat...NOT new york. so count on
things closing early, have dinner BEFORE 10PM, and be ready for some fat
girls with surly attitudes...though you might get lucky and find a cutey
who is less surly and more girly. [/q]

After reviewing the probable waitresses, did he ever actually give you hints on where to go?

For good advice, try http://www.chowhound.com, a great food message board.

I posted a request for restaurant suggestions in Providence (under cdstar) to the chowhound board, and have gotten some responses. Check them out if you are interested.

Atwells (or is it Atwell?) is the main street on Federal Hill, which is lined with Italian restaurants, delis, and bakeries.

Yep, he said the Red Fez (food AND drink) and the Wild Colonial
(drink only).
