I bought progams coming in from the Bartels side. I was told the IRS made the CHA to stop the 50/50. Any confirmation from those in the know? If so, it'll be interesting to see what happens in other rinks. 50/50 is obviously very common in hockey rinks.

interesting about the IRS thing. last time i was at fenway the 50/50 paid out 10K.  i see 50/50 at HS games all the time and i have seen some at college games this year too.  not sure whay a $2-300 50/50 would cause an issue

It shouldn't. As I understand it, you don't even have to report a 50/50 prize to the IRS unless it's $600 or more, and there's nothing illegal about a non-profit operating them. Maybe if the CHA wasn't declaring the income from it that could be a problem, but that's different, and still doesn't really explain why they'd be told to "stop" instead of being charged fines or interest.

For what it's worth, the Royals had a 50/50 going at game two of the World Series.

Programs were definitely sold in the same places they have been for years. As for the 50/50 I was also told it had to do with some paperwork being filed with ith IRS.

It's way more complicated than that. We're hoping to get things sorted out and have the 50/50 return this year, but the ball is currently in Cornell's court and we have to wait on them.

i didnt find anyone selling programs in the 3 places i usually do. by the NE door entrance, just inside the door entering lynah aqnd by the stairs in the SE corner by the food area. i didnt go out towards the ticket office though as i was more wondering where the 50/50 was.

Actually, I woke up this morning and realized I'd gotten over it.  We won the fucking pennant.  I am undisappoint.

Winning the league championship is a hell of an accomplishment. I'm pretty sure that it was a hell of a ride for Mets fans. Winning it all is great but it's not the only thing.

I'm definitely happy about the season, but some of the details still sting.

For example.  Jeurys Familia, about whom I told someone at a bar that I'd like his jersey above any other current Met seconds before Alex Gordon's homer in game 1, now is sole possessor of the record for most blown saves in a single world series.

Thanks a lot, announcer in the NLDS who said the Mets haven't had a closer like this since Armando Benitez.
