Conference Tournaments and Time Off

Cornell is resting now and enjoying a two-week break between games and hopefully, just the standard week between the ECAC's and the NCAA's.  Providence had their standard week off now (minus a day) while potentially enjoying the two-week break between HE championships and the NCAA's and a three-week break if they don't make HE finals but stilll make the NCAA's.  The two-week or three-week break of course also applies to Maine, BU, BC and UHN.   Thoughts?

To summarize the different conferences and the weekends they are conducting their playoffs:

Weekend of 3/7:
CCHA - regular season games
CHA - regular season games
ECAC - first round playoff games (5-12 play, 12 teams reduced to eight)
HE - first round playoff games (8 teams reduced to 4)
MAAC - regular season games
WCHA - regular season games

Weekend of 3/14:
CCHA - first round playoff games (12 teams reduced to six)
CHA - first round playoff games (3-6 play, 6 teams reduced to four)ECAC - quarterfinal playoff games (8 teams reduced to four)
HE - championship weekend (4 teams reduced to 1)
MAAC - first round playoff games (1-8 play, 8 teams reduced to four)
WCHA - first round playoff games (10 teams reduced to five)

Weekend of 3/21:
CCHA - Super Six Championship weekend (6 teams reduced to 1)
CHA - Championship weekend (4 teams reduced to 1)
ECAC - Championship Weekend (4 teams reduced to 1)
HE - No games scheduled
MAAC - Championship Weekend (4 teams reduced to 1)
WCHA - Final Five Championship (5 teams reduced to 1)

Cornell got a little dinged up the last couple weeks of the RS, so hopefully the week off will bring them back to full stength again after the extra week.  It's nice to come back to a best-of-three, just in case they are rusty Friday.

Hey, with no HE the weekend of 3/21 the ECAC could move back to Boston.:-D I know there are probably some lousy pro games there, but... .

Actually, NCAA regional hoop games will be held at the Fleet Center on the weekend of 3/21, and with the Frozen Four being held the second week of April this year (10 and 12) instead of the first, that's why HE teams will have an extended break after the league tourney concludes next weekend and the NCAAs begin on 3/28 and 3/29.

I'm definitely a little concerned for BU about the "rust" factor in the NCAA game of 3/28 in Worcester, assuming they make it that far.
