At the very least, at least we shouldn't have to play a team with two (2!) starting seven-footers.  I generally root for Duke, but that wouldn't be the worst matchup for us.  I'd love to see us in a matchup with another shooting team.

Completely agree.  I've been looking forward to a potential Duke matchup since the bracketology started showing that possibility a few weeks ago.  A 3 point shooting team that lacks a paint presence and speed is what we need to face to pull off an upset, IMO. Plus, the added hilarity of beating Duke would we hard to top.

My hunch is that Reeves and Wrobo come off the bench.  But regardless of who starts the game, Groebe is a 30 minute player next year.  He's just too good of a scorer and Steve loves shooters.

Gillespie liked to play Coury 2-10 minutes per game at the start of the game.  He liked Mark to get things going with some intensity and help rally the rest of the troops.

Maybe his minutes would decline in the years to come.... but one thing is for certain, this was not a guy who was 15th on the bench with no hope of ever playing.

He was a role player that the coaches loved.  And frankly--- I think Wrobo, Greeb, Coury, Hill and Wire is the beginning of a very competitive nucleus for 2010-2011.  Give us a couple more pieces and we will be competitive for a 4-peat.
What we need now is a solid OOC schedule like this year.  I think we get St Joe's at home next year as part 2 of a the home n home.  I would assume we'll get Cuse (on the road) and probably play in a pre-season tournament of some kind.  One or two big names on top of that and we'd be set.

But I'm still hoping for a miracle that we can steal one in the NC$$ tourney this year.  ::rock::We'd probably need a 14 seed and draw a team along the lines of Butler, Gonzaga, Xavier, etc.  The good news is that there's no way we can shoot as poorly as we did against Stanford last year.  I think we were close to setting a record for the lowest field goal pct.
We play St. Joes (Ithaca), @La Salle, @Syracuse and @Kansas.  From what I understand, we are trying to get a game for Lou down at either Alabama or UAB.

You can rest assured they will schedule several tough games just like this year.

CornellFan,

Do you know when we are playing St Joes? Is it going to be during the semester when all the students are here or is it going to be over Winter break?

I never got the date, but I'll ask.  I know Kansas is in January,

Not sure if everyone saw the news, but our neighbors to the south, (and safety school for Cornell applicants aplenty), the Binghamton Bearcats, are headed to the NCAA tournament for the first time.

Not this Cornell applicant. I thought Binghamton was kind of a safety school. They thought otherwise. I was at SUNY-Albany for 3 semesters instead.

You clearly needed some seasoning before you were worthy to nap in Ives.

Did you really think the Binghamton Bearcats were called the Bobcats, or was that an extremely obscure Boeheim reference?

I take more exception to his calling Binghamton a safety school for us, then I do to getting the nickname wrong.
