I thought Josh was refering to UConn being ranked #13 in the AP poll rather than them being a 4th seed.

Ah, yes. Good catch.

I hate UConn.  This stems from when they played Yale a few years ago (who hung in there for a half, before getting beat up in the 2nd half) and there was an over-enthusiastic Yale player who commented afterwards, "Maybe we'll see them in the postseason."

A stupid comment, admittedly, since Yale (like Cornell at the time) had very little chance of reaching the NCAA tournament.  But UConn coach Jim Calhoun ripped the kid, saying something about watching his mouth and that he had to win some more before making comments like that.  Calm down, Calhoun.  The kid was over exuberant and unrealistic, but not out of line.  There's no reason to verbally smackdown players from less competitive conferences.  I don't want to see Yale succeed to a great degree, but since they are an Ivy League school, I will certainly root for them if they play a school like UConn.

Having said all that and unnessecarily caused thread drift, I don't want to see Cornell face a Big East team in the first round.  I'd much rather see them play a team from a non Power 6 conference, like Drake or Butler.  As per the Cornell Basketball Blog, the Big Red have a better chance of pulling an upset against a less athletic team, from a less athletic conference.  The chances of that happening are low, since Drake and Butler won't receive high enough seeds to play Cornell.  Plus, calling them "less athletic" is all relative; Cornell will have to play by far its best game of the season to win any first round game.

I will root against UConn as I always do.  I will root hard for Cornell, and be proud of them no matter what, since they have given us such a terrific season.

According to CBS Sportsline they have canceled next weekend's games.
Whoa, whoa, whoa whoa.  Hold it just a second there.  Is that true?  Does this mean no going down to Princeton to see the away game Saturday night?
No; it was just a mistake by the Sportsline AND SportsCenter crews. Next week's games are definitely on.
Geez.  I thought my "After all" clause made it clear I was just making a joke at CBS's expense.

If Cornell gets a 12 (really unlikely) or 13, Butler is a plausible opponent if they win out.

3 losses in their last 6 will probably bump Drake down to a 7 or 8 seed, which is a pity. After the win at Butler, I thought Drake was primed for a surprisingly high seed. Now I suspect that they won't even win their conference tourney and end up a 10.

Not surprising (because of Tony Kornheiser), but Cornell clinching made the Pardon The Interruption Big Finish.  Here's the video...

It's only about 6 seconds of it.

Good God, I could have a LOT of fun with this here in Hartford.

And ruin the fun that I could have had here in West Lafayette.;-)
(For those new to the thread, last week the bracketologists had Cornell playing Purdue).

I guess this is the thread that has the most traction to put "basketball media coverage" items (I have at least 5 to choose from).  :-)  Even the fake news outlets are giving us pub:

Obviously these humor writers don't know the phrase "puck-bunnies."
