You can thank the City of Ithaca Fire Marshal for the removal of the sign.

The old neon sign was landmarked and thought to be safe from removal. The rooster sign above the Chanticleer bar downtown is another landmarked local neon sign.

And it is not disposed of, just in a safe resting place for now.
The sign is not in great shape, and it is doubtful that it will be returned to it's former location.
I think Uncle Joes *is* the place i was thinking of..Thanks for this. Will also keep The Rose in mind if we need a place closer to the hotel...
The food at Uncle Joe's is a dissapointing. If you are looking for lots of big TV's and a sports theme, Benchwarmers on the Commons has a larger menu and at least marginally better fare.

Hockey / Lynah Article in Ithaca Times
August 22, 2007, 05:59:57 PM
For your amusement, an article in this week's Ithaca Times in the Student Survival Guide section:

  http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18735595&BRD=1395&PAG=461&dept_id=585505&rfi=6

Good for a few chuckles.

As a note about this event, it is a scholarship fundraiser for the Cornell Alumni Association of the Ithaca Area.

Everyone is welcome to attend, and the entire event fee is going to the CAAIA's scholarship fund, which supports a student from Tompkins County attending Cornell.

Other Sports / Re: Lax Final Four Tickets

I picked up our tickets this morning, put in my request in person on Monday at the Ticket Office, and we ended up w/4 seats in the Cornell Block, right on one of the corners, 3rd Row. They are for all 3 games. Priced on the tix as $30 Saturday, $10 Sunday, $25 Monday. 3 Individual tickets for each person, one for each day.

There were other people there picking up tix this morning, so obviously some people got them. Sounds like the players /band/ VIPs scooped up a big chunk of the 800 seats though.

I called the ticket office about this and they replied something like 'many, many pairs of eyes proofread the tickets before they were printed and we obviously missed the price change'.  ::screwy::

Hockey / More Ticket Office fun
October 12, 2006, 09:17:27 PM
Got a message on our answering machine today from the ticket office saying that our number has finally come up on the waiting list for season tickets.

Problem is, we have had season tickets in our name for 3 years now. Sigh. ::rolleyes::

I guess I'll call them up tomorrow and let them know to pass them on to the 'next' person on the wait list.

Hmmm... maybe they're even sending out the e-mail in alphabetical order, mine still hasn't arrived yet. But they did finally cash my check last Tuesday.

Yep, $360 a seat is the general public ticket price. $18 per game for 20 games (includes playoffs). Section M is 'adults'- no standing, less crowd participation in the cheering. Typically everyone knows what is going on in the games though ::rolleyes::
