An extremely accomplished person.  Ken Dryden defines class, grace and a life well-lived.

My thoughts are with all of his family and friends.

thank you for checking on this.  I just bought the desert tourney pass for $23 and change (code APPLY).

I'm glad Cornell Hockey is back from the exam break and hoping they have regrouped and ready to go on a run. Happy 2025 everyone.

Ohio State 8-1 Harvard
Penn State 8-0 Michigan Tech
Michigan 8-0 Colgate (after 2nd period)

What does it mean? Does it say anything about conference strength? If it does, how to explain it? I am flabbergasted.
Let's wait to see if Colgate Michigan scores 8 more  times in the third period before drawing any conclusions.

suggested an edit for your post.

omg.  here's hoping michigan has a goal allotment and they use them all up tonight.

I'm surprised by the # of blowouts.  good thing goal differential doesn't matter. except for our game all the others were 4+ (St. Cloud had a 3 goal lead before Minnesota State pulled the goalie).

Quote from: RitaThese bag policies are a main reason why I do not have any desire to go to games at stadiums/arenas, even the local minor league ball park. I'm ALWAYS cold.  I need a sweatshirt. My wallet is big - i do not have all my life essentials on my phone. I always carry a bottle of ibuprofen. My Keys are chunky and on a lanyard. I need a purse tote bag for my stuff. it won't all fit into a 1 gallon zip lock bag and those zip lock bags do not have shoulder straps. Finally, I'm not so keen on leaving important things in the car - with my luck i'll would be parked next to these idiots.

It is sad that at your college hockey rink that they have to be so strict.  I get it at things like super bowls - but for the fish and fowl game?

I'm just going to stay in my cat4 fortified home and never leave.

I'm taking your post as sincere (hopefully I didn't misread the tone.)

Karen Alert!

You just don't want to be bothered with the easy solutions to your issues here. You don't "need" a tote, you want one.

-im always cold too. So I either layer up before getting out of the car or tie the extra sweatshirt, jacket, whatever around my waist.

-you really need all the crap in your big wallet for a hockey game?  When I don't want to lug my wallet around, like if I'm stuck wearing a suit to some event, I grab a super slim wallet I keep for that purpose and move my ID, credit card, some cash and maybe an insurance card into it.

Do you really need more than that?

-instead of a whole bottle of ibuprofen, use a tiny pill bottle that you keep in a go bag and keep it filled ,and just put it in your pocket.  How many tabs could you l need in a 3 hour span?

-omg with the keys.  You don't need all your life keys at the rink.  Keep a spare key ring with duplicate  house key and car key to bring into the rink.   Again, you need.more than that?

All that easily fits into pant.pockets and we haven't even used the gallon bag, or stuffed a few things in a jacket pocket.

You need more than that? Really?

I got stuff and I need a bag and I want a bag. Yes, I am particular.  I get the security policies and it is my option to stay home with my stuff.

There is a point where moving my stuff into security friendly  containers and stuffing my pockets isn't worth it. And remember, I said that the zip-lock bags NOT having shoulder straps was also a deal breaker for me :). Yeah, I could figure out a way to condense my worldly possessions - but it would have to be for something special v. something I can watch from the comfort of my couch.

Again - the security policies reflect where we are as a nation and a global community.  It is the world we live in - along with wildfires that rage out of control, storms that intensify into near cat 5 hurricanes in 36 hr and the pandemics.

But to show I'm not a total pessimist / Debbie Downer - I am hopeful that Cornell will finish in the ECAC top 4.

Meanwhile in my neck of the woods the eye of Hurricane Ian is bearing down on SWFL.

For all of you mathematicians, modelers and those curious about weather, the UK-MET model had the correct track for Ian. As early as Friday it had the storm headed for SWFL while the other models kept nudging Ian West only to have to move the track back east and then to the south.

Stay safe!

Hi All.  Eden the Elf and I (and my family) are ok.  i'm still waiting for power to come back on at my house, but 2/4 of my family units have power and internet. I'm just starting to see pictures of the destruction. We are fortunate - our losses are minimal. others, especially those in the cape and on the barrier islands lost so much. it is heartbreaking.

You know Groundhog Day is Feb. 2, right?
and Punxsutauney Phil had bad news.

A matter of perspective and preference. Phil provides news: you interpret it and act upon it how you wish.

I, for one, welcome winter as the season of skiing, hockey, and of beautiful snow. So too it is the season of the truly great contrast—at least for those fortunate to have insides to go to—that reminds you that you're alive: cold outside, warm inside. Living through four seasons each year is best for the soul, and of those four seasons I anticipate winter the most.

greetings from 2 season florida - hot and humid, not so humid.  or hurricane season, prepping for hurricane season. I miss autumn and apple orchards. When i lived in ithaca I was baking apple something from september - february.

for those of you up north ... Enjoy the snow (I miss how pretty it is, not driving in it) and be safe on the roads. The Lakewood (Colorado) PD have some winter weather advise.

Isn't there any type of pre-travel quarrantine period for the olympians before going over to China in order to ensure a negative covid test? I know the olympians will be essentially in an air tight bubble once in china...

Quote from: George64After  he was released as the New York Giants' offensive coordinator, Jason Garrett was given very strong consideration for the open head coaching position at Duke.  In the end, however, he was passed over for the job.

Garrett comes from a coaching family, has an Ivy pedigree (Princeton and Columbia), extensive pro coaching experience, some NFL playing time, he's 55 and really shouldn't need a big payday, why not finish out his career at Cornell?

Moreover, Garrett might make a great mentor for Jameson Wang, "the second coming Gary Wood."
.

who did Duke hire? When Garret got released by the NY Giants, that was my first though - come to Ithaca. I thought Garret would have been at good fit at Duke.
