Not bad for a journey of less than thirty miles.
But the traffic...

I'm pretty sure Canadian Anglophones have worked out their French language issues long before they get to college.

None of this is real.  I do not understand why anyone takes anything in a sports story serious, ever.

Hell, stretch it to everything in media.  Several times in my life there have been media frenzies about things I knew well from the inside.  Without exception, the media coverage was (1) stupid, (2) self-contradictory, (3) did I mention stupid?, and (4) so misguided, missing the point, and irrelevant it was not even wrong.

I believe it is highly likely there has not been media coverage of a single incident in history that was more accurate or relevant than going to a palm reader.  That entire sector of human endeavor amounts to entertainment and filling time between ads.

It isn't real.

Quote from: Cornell troll on July 01, 2026, 10:30:16 PMI just want him to leave his old program alone at this point.

Who even knows whether his quotes are being goaded, mistranslated, misquoted, or flat out just invented?  It's sports media.  It's bullshit by definition, monetized by being interesting, not accurate.

Quote from: BearLover on June 28, 2026, 09:46:41 AMSetting aside the fact pretty much every statement on a hockey fan forum adds little to nothing, my statement diagnoses a problem.

No.  Your numbers suggest certain things.  Your opinions are just your opinions, and we know them because you repeat them ad nauseum.  When you put down actual facts you're interesting.  You're unfathomably boring when you whine.

Just.  Post.  Facts.  Your facts are neat.  Your opinions are dandruff.

QuoteI'll repeat what I said like 6 months ago that we need to pick up our recruiting.

This statement adds nothing.

A few years ago, we had few WFAN I'll hang up and listen sweat glands posts on eLynah.  The "<Stephen A Smith> <urgency> <adversarial> <are your throw rugs KILLING YOUR KIDS?!?!> <now just apply to anything>" style that's ubiquitous everywhere else on the intertubes hadn't found a footing here.

My little rant:

1. I hate it.
2. It adds nothing beyond shout shout / me me.
3. I miss the days when we were free of it.

Yeah, the quoted guy* is one epicenter, but we're all doing it more and more and it blows.  I'll try to refrain.

* Lest this be taken as a personal flame**, look at the substantive part of his posts about the conferences and frequency of picks.  They're great.  The numbers speak for themselves.  They don't need to be amplified by interpretation.  We can all read a chart and draw conclusions.  Thank you for compiling the data -- it adds to the universe.

** Personal flames will typically be indicated by favorable comparisons to Billy Joel and Jerry Seinfeld.

Stupid numbers is why you never retire numbers.

Goalies should always be 1, 30 or 31.

Defensemen should be single digits.  Forwards should be teens.  Either may be 20s.  The End.

Hughes will always be remembered for the 4-goal game and for a brief special teams experiment at the point which resulted in at least 2 if not more opponent goals.

Quote from: Beeeej on June 26, 2026, 03:05:00 PMPretty sure that Hughes played his senior year ('92-93), though he may have wished he hadn't. That was a rough time to be a fan and it can't have been easy to be on the ice, either.

Yes.  The big falloff came after '91.

Quote from: Beeeej on June 19, 2026, 11:46:02 PMalumnus merely means former student; without the degree, "graduate" would've been improper, but not alumnus.

I did not know this.  Thank you.

Goalie for the USMNT at the World Cup is a Harvard alumnus.

Go USA but, as you know, Harvard sucks.
