First period was pretty good, the second two weren't as hot.  We need to step it up a bit for tomorrow, but it's within reach.

You know, like "The Facebook"

I'mma jump in here for this one as I still call it "The Facebook."  When the fbook first came 'round, it actually was "The Facebook."  In fact, you can still access it via its original URL- thefacebook.com.  This is much more legit than "The Google" or "The Lynah."

This history lesson has been brought to you by the letter C.

We played well in the third period.  I like that we ended the game 6-3, but I'm not too hot on us having to rally back from 1-3.

That said, some exciting hockey.  This is probably one of the best teams we've fielded in years and the freshman are playing fairly well.  Our power play is looking pretty good, the PK not too bad, and Scrivens seems to have anchored himself near the net (and hasn't taken anyone down... yet).  It's still early in the season, but it looks like our guys are starting to click and things are happening.  I hope we can keep this up throughout the season.

Scrivens looks a little uneasy, but did come up huge when he needed to.  We had some nasty defensive breakdowns and they took advantage of them.  When you allow what is essentially a 3-on-1 rush, you're asking for trouble.

I like what we've done in the offensive zone, and we had some decent shots, but we really need to find the back of that net.  We have a good team this year, and I'm really excited to see what we can do.
All I can say is, WOW.
I could say the exact same thing back to you, but it's obvious you're not getting my point, and I'm not getting yours.  I just think that athletics is overreacting, again, as usual
So, we forget about your professors and everyone who works at Cornell to keep it running. Forget about people like me, who have been going, and giving, since we were freshman in 1963. In fact, let's throw all of them out of CU and you can teach yourself. After all, as I had posted before it was Coach who wanted the vulgarity gone; maybe we could just not allow his wife and kids in Lynah, that would solve the problem.

Look, it's obviously posts like this that get me going, but we all live in this world together, why can't we just try and have some consideration for others. Just because the athletic department seems inconsiderate, doesn't mean we all have to be.
If we're going for hyperbole, how about you kick out the students?  I'm sure the lack of tuition dollars (and future alumni donations) will pay the staff's salary for a long time.  You're right about us all needing to live together, but give and take goes both ways.  Students are going to be students no matter what you do.

For the record, I've lived in Ithaca since '88 and my pops is a prof, so don't try accusing me of forgetting about the locals.  What I'm trying to say is that there will always be a disconnect between students and townies, and everyone needs to realize that.  If a student goes to the Hangar (or the chili cook-off, or wine tasting), they shouldn't go wasted and be an ass.  If a local goes to a student game, they shouldn't be offended by someone loudly heckling the goalie using less than pristine language.  Once again, I'm not saying that the students should be swearing left and right, but two f-bombs a game is better than cable TV.  It is how it is, and we'll always have two different worlds.  (Don't even get me started about this whole Collegetown debacle)

It always annoyed me that athletics cared so much about the townies.  I see the University as a place for students where townies are invited in, not the other way around.  I think the AD and all have sort of forgotten that.

Now, it's true that we should be able to intimidate the opposition without swearing, but I also don't think that dropping the occasional curse (like during Gary Glitter) is a mortal sin.  The users also need to get the hell off their power trip too- when I graduated ('07), they were tossing people who screamed "sucks" and "I hate you" just a little too loudly.  The reason?  Apparently "hate" is a strong word...  I'm so glad they weren't the bouncers at any of the bars around Ithaca.
It's also nice to see the team rise up when Scrivens makes a mistake, as we all know he will, and not have to rely upon him to win. Aside from his mistake, I thought he played a good, not great game.
Maybe not his greatest, but from the video feed, it looked like he improved a lot.  His rebound control was pretty good this game, and he didn't wander out of the net too much.  Both of these made me feel a lot more comfortable with him in the net than I have before.

Good first, we were in the box most of the second (some crap calls, some stupid penalties), and they seemed to phone it in for most of the third.  Scrivens looked awesome, but he's wandering again.  If this keeps up, my coworkers will start giving me odd looks when I yell at the screen.
The powerplay's looking pretty crappy in two consecutive tries now.  Seems like we've fallen into the usual hold-the-fort strategy.  One more goal...please?
Well, you partly got it today.  Scali looked fairly fast all game.  He's impressed me, both with is physical ability and his quickness.

I was at the game.  Goal was almost entirely Nabakov's fault.  The Kings player on the breakaway shot right into Nabakov right as a tripping penalty was being called.  The puck dropped to the goalie's skate, and everybody on the ice thought that the play had stopped.  The goalie stood up, all the players stopped skating, etc..., but then Kings player 2 realized that no whistle had been blown, so he skated up and poked the puck in with no resistance.  Nabakov realized what was happening just a little too late.
