I remember him talking about this in the Game, about one of his Stanley cup wins. They were up enough in the final game to be able to actually enjoy it. Really special.

Hmmm too many

2004-05 ECAC QF against Clarkson, freshman Topher Scott scores in OT, jumps about a meter looking up at section A. My first year at cornell, we were undefeated at home and I thought we were unbeatable.

2005-06 ECAC QF against Clarkson, senior Matt Molson scores in 2OT for his last goal at Lynah. Magical.

2007-08 my senior year, last game of the QF, end of the third. Schafer puts in the seniors, and Topher comes up to the faceoff dot in front of A.  He doesn't do anything much- he simply looks up at section A with a big grin and everyone absolutely LOSES it.

After graduating there was an ECAC SF in Albany against Princeton where they were down I think two goals in the third. They make it back with goals by Riley Nash and Colin Greening, then win in overtime. Unbelievable. Don't ask what happened the next day.

That NCAA game against Michigan, and also the one against northeastern where we dominated. The shift against UNH.

And... this year! I'll never forget the Q game or the MSU game.

Quote from: David HardingSomeone asked about number of posts in a game thread.  I scanned to the beginning of time and the previous record was 317 for a playoff game with Clarkson in March 11, 2006.  That one was followed by a separate post-game thread of 143 posts, for a total of 460.
i wonder how much of it was dick swinging from guys fighting for the title of gloomiest poster
Much more likely it was dick swinging from the people happy when Cornell is losing 6-1 to Dartmouth and Union and blaming every thing on injuries, as they comprise 90% of this forum

Wow I forgot about RichS

I figured this would be the super long game where Molson scored his last goal, a 2OT (3OT?) beauty to put Clarkson away. Then the ecacs, followed by tragedy vs Wisconsin in Milwaukee. But it's the game before!! With a Sawada GWG in 2OT.

Anyways.... Nothing to be ashamed of, what an unbelievable run. I really really liked this team. Incredible patience and grit, and Shane was a brick wall. Good health to coach and welcome to Casey.

ESPNU now has it. Fuckers. YoutubeTV doesn't have ESPNNews so I had to listen on the radio for the first 5 minutes.

Quote from: BMacWelcome!

BU is indeed a rival- they were in the ECAC (our division) for a very long time before they left for the newly-created Hockey East in the 80s.

Definitely welcome to Stereax!

More than that, before 1980, the NCAA tournament was only made up of four teams: two Eastern, and two Western. From about 1965-1975, BU and Cornell were the most dominant and successful Eastern teams and kept butting heads in the ECAC and NCAA tournaments. The old-timers still hold and feel it. To this day, there's a Cornell cheer that ends with "Screw BU.... too."  BU has gone on to have more success as the sport has grown, while Ivies have kept old restrictions on Athletics.

Some more history! Love it, thank you.
