Hockey / Re: USCHO's Midwest Regional Preview
March 23, 2012, 10:07:59 AM
From today's Detroit Free Press:

Berenson said Cornell reminds him of a CCHA team. The Big Red is led by 5-foot-9, 180-pound sophomore goaltender Andy Iles (2.13 GAA, .918 save percentage). "If they were in our league, they'd be right there with the top teams in our league," Berenson said. ... Berenson didn't answer a question about what he was doing with his top-two lines, but some tinkering apparently was going on.

Having gone to Michigan for grad school, I think this is just too subtle an analysis. The football rivalry with tOSU is huge with the fan base, no matter what the sport. Playing the Ohio State fight song will have a bigger impact than either the Notre Dame or MSU tune. Go band! I'm looking forward to hearing it on the broadcast.

Nice article in the Washington Post on former Red quarterback Bill Lazor, the new offensive coordinator at UVA. He has his work cut out for him.

Thanks for posting this. One of the easiest and most important acts we can take to help anyone with this and related diseases is to join the National Bone Marrow Registry. Joining is a very simple process, and you can save a life. Don't think you can't make a difference. Please check out the procedure at the following URL:
Olbermann is wrong about an Aggie being able to take "just as many courses" in endowed colleges as an Artsie, though.  IIRC statutory college students can take no more that half of their courses in endowed colleges.  Got to get some benefit for that extra tuition.
The university has eliminated that restriction in recent years. Olbermann may still be wrong if he's referring to the time he was in school, though.
When was the last time we had a player who, at a mighty 5'6" and 167 lbs, led the team in PIMs more than halfway through the season? ::screwy::
I'm guessing that Kevin Pettit probably shares this honor.

Hockey / Re: Cornell 2 UND 1 Postgame

Haven't been able to find any confirmation about the Northeastern rink either, but did find some mention of Dartmouth playing both themselves and Cornell. Ned Harkness refused to allow the film makers to use Cornell jerseys unless Cornell won the game in the film. Interesting additional trivia - Bill Cleary was Ryan O'Neal's stand-in (skate-in?), and Joe Bertagna was in goal for Harvard.
After that, it's February 7th vs. Princeton, the 14th at Hahvahd (cue "Love Story), and February 28th at Yale
Nice analysis, but one minor quibble: The Love Story game took place in some rink masquerading as Lynah.

John Spencer Is Dead / Third DC-area Wegman's
June 11, 2008, 01:25:05 PM
Those of you living in southern DC suburbs will find it a little easier to get a taste of Ithaca. The new Woodbridge Wegman's opened Sunday. Just off I-95, near Potomac Mills. Pig out!

Good suggestion about HowardForums. I checked into this issue awhile ago, and if you suspect you'll surpass the 5gb limit, you can purchase a separate broadband service from them that doesn't have this limitation. Verizon does enforce this limit by terminating your service, probably as a way to push you into buying the additional broadband service. I don't recall whether you can purchase this month-to-month or whether you're locked in for a longer period.

Hockey / Yost

Nice article in today's USA Today on Yost. It devotes a lot of attention to the fans and atmosphere and expectedly fails to appreciate who showed them the ropes.

Edit: Games vs. the Caps in their first few years don't count. ::yark::
You could probably say that as well today.  I was at the Caps game that preceded Hanlon being fired, and, compared to that fiasco, the Red effort at MSG looked pretty decent.

You're right about that.  At the end of the Georgetown game, a few old bandies determinedly sang Cornell Vic anyway, with the current band seemingly confused about what it was.
