As a sporting tangential board, Dave Bliss '65 at least deserves a mention -- no?

Of interest...

QuoteOfficially sanctioned by the NCAA, Jeopardy! and Trivial Pursuit as the originator of homecoming, the University of Missouri is proud of their long-standing homecoming tradition. It was there in 1911 where Mizzou's Athletic Director Chester Brewer asked alumni of the school to help inaugurate the new location of their football field by "coming home" to attend the annual game against the University of Kansas.

that's bs...say what you will about his ability to win w/o those top 3 guys, but his teams always featured a two-guard, motion offense with a wing playing up high. To the extent that it is probably too predictable, SD loves attacking the lane, swinging a good passing 5 up to the top of the key, and setting up stand-still 3s. The knock on him is far less that he doesn't have a system and much more that 1) he doesn't get the improvised movement that great read & react / motion offenses need and 2) he's not the most amazing recruiter (which means he is not as good of a coach as John Beilein, a fact that shouldn't shock anyone). Just because a system works better when your 3 shoots 40%+ from deep rather than under 30%, doesn't mean that it's not a system.

And Lenny is back down to Iowa after a day. Why? Weird salary cap rules.

Don't forget about how much of the recent revenue growth is due to the strengthening of the Canadian Dollar. Every Canadian team's revenue could be up 16-17% over the past year simply because the loonie is that much stronger.

Guy Flaming? is that a real name?

The story from the MSG box office is the same. I went last week and was told that the Cornell seats in the 100 level were gone. It was not, however, a problem to get seats in the 200 level a row or two behind the Cornell section.

Quote...and he's back in the ECHL. after making the most of his first 3 games, he sure blew the last 2. i wonder how this affects his standing in the Ducks organization?

I don't think that it does. Portland is not making the playoffs, but Augusta is playing Charlotte in the 1st round of the ECHL playoffs right now.

McKee took the loss (2-1) in the 1st game of the series

Yes, the ivies can play in the NIT. In '02, when Yale, Princeton, and Penn tied for the Ivy title both Yale and Princeton got invites to the NIT. Yale actually won in the opening round.

The chance of an ivy team making the field decrease a little bit this year, as the NIT field shrunk from 40 to 32 teams. On the other hand, ESPN no longer gets to pick the teams in the tournament (as they hand in the past).

Also of note to the Ivy tournament / no tournament debate is that the NIT guarantees the regular season winner of all conferences a bid if that teams fails to win their conference tournament.
