Hockey / Re: List of all current Band Songs?

As of now, the band is planning to attend both Lake Placid and the Women's Frozen Four this weekend, but it seems like they might struggle to get enough people to do both given they are both road trips and it is a stressful time of the semester for prelims and such.

Which event are you referring to? Usually no, we're pretty creative about it. We often bring a few extra people over the instrument limit, and those people have no instruments; they just make noise, are percussionists who rotate in for different songs, or they bring a mouthpiece and rotate in on the sax or something.

Quote from: LynahFaithfulSorry for the random question, but does anyone know where I can find a current list of the songs that the band plays?  I cant get some of those songs out of my head.  In particular one of the songs they played tonight was released not long ago and is more of a catchy techno/dance song.  I saw a Spotify playlist somewhere of some of the songs they play but it didn't include the song I have in mind.  I love that they're playing some newer stuff in addition to the older and more classic songs!

I believe you're referring to Every Time We Touch by Cascada, that's the most recent one they added. And on the Pep Band website (http://pepband.bigredbands.org/), click "Schedule and Media" and scroll down to a scrolling section that will rotate to a Spotify playlist I made a few years back. I'm a band alum, class of '18... :)

Ugh. Any team that employs that goon Emeliofonwu is just so frustrating to lose to.

Quote from: imafrshmnThe potential outcomes have narrowed down considerably given the stratification in the pairwise rankings, even before the result of Ohio State-Wisconsin tonight and the championships tomorrow: (assuming NCAA tournament seeding follows pairwise exactly, which it hasn't always in the past for seeds 5-8).

Cornell loss to Clarkson: 6th seed at 3. Northeastern

Cornell beats Clarkson:
---if B.C. beats Northeastern: 5th seed at 4. B.C.
---if Northeastern beats B.C.: 4th seed vs. 5. Clarkson.
If one of Cornell and Clarkson is in the top 4 and the other is in the unseeded 5-8, the committee will match us up, plain and simple. Both schools would have to fly to many teams, but if you match us up, both can drive. Makes a lot of logistical sense when you consider how much more important location is to the NCAA Whockey selection committee than on the men's side.

Having been to the Northford Ice Pavilion in North Branford, Connecticut... a sister facility to that would be nowhere near the level of a college hockey playoffs facility, even for Atlantic Hockey.

Donaldson is in tonight. We'll see if he is 100 percent or not. Same goes for Barron, who was apparently a game-time decision last Saturday.

Quote from: kevdog8My guess is he dresses Song/Bramwell as needed and leaves them at the end of the bench again...

Bramwell has actually gotten a handful of (short) shifts. Song, on the other hand, got zero in the one game he dressed for.
Yep, seen him out there myself, he took the shift right after Donny went down last weekend. But his shifts have been few and far between. Feel bad for the kid, he looked good in preseason.

Has Cornell ever called up a club player in the recent era? This year, Schafer has been forced to dress Song, Bramwell and Brakel (when he was here) at times but has preferred to roll 11 forwards or 5 D-men over giving those guys shifts. My guess is he dresses Song/Bramwell as needed and leaves them at the end of the bench again...

Quote from: ursusminorIf I may ask, is this disrespect by the RPI band, the HFH staff, or the RPI fans?
On this occasion (Spring '18) it was started by the RPI band and continued by HFH staff. We have had past issues with HFH staff before. I'll never forget the year they moved an entire 30-person band five seats to the left because someone complained we were making too much noise. I'm sorry, ma'am, but we traveled 3+ hours to make a lot of noise...

Quote from: Chris 02Anyone know why the band didn't make the trip to RPI this weekend?

According to Jim Hyla the band plans to make the final two trips to the away series in the coming weeks.

He and I both think the shabby treatment by Union last year factored into the decision to skip RPI and Union.  They treated the band like shit and then denied it all when faced with a letter that Jim wrote to complain.

Short version IIRC,  the band was told they couldn't play unless Cornell scored. They were told no playing before the game,  no playing during breaks in the action,  and no playing between periods.

The band president negotiated a few concessions and I was amazed at his poise but it really stunk.  In order to play the Alma Mater the band reassembled outside the rink after the game.

Thank God they're having a crap year.

Correct. I talked to someone connected to the band, but not in it and their comment was that the band was quite upset with what happenned at Union. They felt that it was one reason for not making the trip. Another was money, that I believe was the main reason they didn't go to Colgate. If enough people had signed up for the CHA bus to Colgate, then they would have gone on that bus. Since the CHA couldn't find enough fans to fund their bus, the band stayed home.

Band trips are expensive and they just don't have enough money to do it all.

Donate and help them out.
Furthermore, there has been significant visiting band disrespect at RPI in the past few years as well. Without going in to details... it makes sense for us to make the North Country and Yale / Brown trips instead. We usually get respect at those rinks.

Quote from: TrotskyThx.  Somehow the Gate roster I pulled up was 2017.  My bad.
No worries; I was quite fond of yelling "Snodgrass!" at him at games in Ithaca and Hamilton so I knew he'd been there for a few seasons :)

Quote from: TrotskyIt does.  Also: Snodgrass is a freshman so I hope Section A makes a note to be particularly attentive to him in the years ahead.
Snodgrass is a junior, for the record.

Sorry I hadn't logged in in a while. But as the recent band alum who posted earlier, I largely agree with most of the thoughts here. And I arranged Jeopardy for the band, so I was really happy that I was able to get the band to 1. play it and 2. play it at the appropriate time (a goal replay.) But I do agree that playing it repeatedly is an instance of one of the worst things about us: we indulge in ourselves at times instead of playing for the crowd.
