Also McCleod (21) and McKeown (16).  IIRC, Salmela is too.

*If* there's a reason why it can't happen, it would probably be some NCAA rule that fears for the athletic purity of the HS students. In the minds of an NCAA bureaucrat, all those carefully laid down rules about when and when you can't visit, make phone calls, send letters, would be undermined by the proximity of a HS game and a college game on the same entertainent venue.

From my somewhat limited knowledge of recruiting rules, among other things, the regulated activities concern direct contacts between recruiters and prospective student-athletes so as to minimize the interference with school work while maintaining a "level playing field" among universities.

NCAA Div. I Rule 13.1.2.4 (b): An athletics representative may view a prospect's athletics contest on his or her own initiative, subject to the understanding that the athletics representative may not contact the prospect on such occassions.

...and with the upcoming Life Sciences expansion into Alumni Fields, there will probably be added demand for that space, both parking and trucks.

If you can't hear the band, try looking at others who can hear and see Sections A&B, like fans in sections H and up.  You can time your claps visually.

I think that pretty much sums it up.  I can't think of one aspect of their game that didn't look better than last year, especially their teamwork.

Notwithstanding the first game rust, I think the real question is:  Were we that good or were they that bad?!

ps:  The rookie cowbell was good, but the band sounded a bit rusty.

They just went on sale this morning, so that's probably why. [/q]

We are required to reserve 100 visitor seats for league games.  Unsold visitor tickets go on sale Friday morning.

As of this morning there were about a dozen unsold season tickets in section G.  They were all sold today.

This club team has some real talent.  Mike Stachurski is on it, as well as several other former DI players.  Mike was on last year's varsity squad for about half the season.

Um, do you expect undergrads at Cornell to have completed Journalism School?

Obviously not.  But some understanding of the basic principles of journalism, including ethics, would seem a reasonable pre-requisite.

Athletics said they would release information through 3 channels: Big Red Bulletin, Web site and radio.  This was confirmed this evening.

I doubt athletics would tell the Sun in advance.  It makes no sense. Why would they risk being criticized by students for showing preference??  What would they gain??  And if someone on staff said athletics told them, I'd be suspicious....

Interesting fact I learned recently: the vast majority of Sun staff have little or no training in journalism.  This will influence the amount of faith I place in their reporting.

I'm guessing that the graduate students will have a different pool of seats to choose from than the undergrads like a couple rows in A, B, D, E or something of that nature.  I doubt they would make a whole graduate student section.[/q]
Certain seats are being reserved for grads in sections B, D & G.  The seats in B & D represent columns, not rows.  For example, seats 1 & 2 in all rows of D.  They are also being allotted the "sitting" portion of section G.

It must have been updated.  Now it specifies two seats per line number.

The student ticket sale will take place during the weekend of Oct 2.  Line numbers will be issued to students immediately upon arrival in the line.  The line will begin when the first student shows up.  Once a student receives a line number, they must be present at all line number checks through Oct 2.  Athletics will be performing line checks during the hours of 10pm and 6am every night, and from 6:30pm on Friday Oct 1 through 8pm Saturday, Oct 2.  Seat selection will be Saturday night rather than Sunday morning.

Here's the "catch".  In order to place some restriction on the duration of the line (the university does not want people forming a line 3 weeks prior to the sale!), the where's and when's of the line will be disclosed at a later date.  So once the line location is released, students may show up, get line numbers, and be ready to spend their nights validating their number.

Athletics will be issuing a press release early next week (Sept. 13) describing these procedures.  The specific line information will be released later in month on the web site and via other means (probably WVBR and WHCU).  This information will also be delivered via an existing e-mail list serve called the "Big Red Bulletin".  Athletics will be updating line number information several times daily via both the Bulletin and the web site once line numbers have been issued

To subscribe to BIGREDBULLETIN-L, send the following command to listproc@cornell.edu:

   SUBSCRIBE BIGREDBULLETIN-L Firstname Lastname

where "Firstname Lastname" is your real name.

The Bulletin is delivered every Monday morning listing all home events for the coming week.  It is used purely for informational purposes and contains no solicitations.  I believe the web site also provides a list serve feature.

As in past years, each line number still represents two seats, and students will still be permitted to hold up to two line numbers, thus allowing for split shifts.

This plan was proposed last spring by several student assembly members in cooperation with athletics staff, and has received the OK from university brass.

It also has to do with the ECAC championship schedule and the CU Academic Calendar.  According to the CU calendar, spring break begins 3/19, while the second round of the playoffs is March 11-13.  So unlike previous years, spring break and playoffs don't clash, more students will be able to attend, and pre-sale makes it easier for everyone.

In order to receive a refund, students (like non-students) must return their playoff tickets to the ticket office where a credit will be issued to the credit card used to purchase the tickets.  The ticket office will accept mail-in refunds.

I've worn these Cornell pants myself.  The inseam of the pant leg is actually zippered with black zippers.  Most (if not all) players keep the inseam unzipped for mobility, as suggested by canucksfan.  Of course, this does not preclude the possibility that they are also ripped!

The players and coaches might view the "irrelevance" of the Ivy title differently.  I believe it's one of their "4 B"s.
