Hockey / Re: Cornell-Ferris State In Progress

Thanks...didn't realize Bardreau got a penalty on the play as well.  That explains it.  I'm not a hockey neophyte, but I thought I missed a rule somewhere in my hockey education.

Just a question for the more educated hockey fan:

When the Ferris player took the tripping penalty and then the 5 minute hitting from behind, why didn't the tripping penalty get served?  When a minor and major are called on the same player, is the minor ignored?

Just NO.

I would say Cornell's current jerseys are pretty much it.  Classic, clean and catches the eye.

I actually wrote about this in another thread somewhere about six months ago.  I am a Cornell alum and then attended Michigan law.  On MGoBlog (a huge Michigan sports blog), somebody posted that they saw Red Berenson at a fundraising event and he mentioned this somewhere around June or July.  Looks like they are really interested.

On a related note - I'd love to see this turn into an annual tournament.  What are the rules with that?  Would we have to give up Estero?  I'd love to see something like Cornell/BU/Michigan and one of the western teams, like Denver or CC.  I think the team who may be most likely to be a fourth is Notre Dame.  They are going to lose Michigan as an annual game when the Big Ten Conference starts.  There would thus be two sets of classic rivals who would be in a tournament together each year.  It would also work because there would be one team from each of the big 4 conferences.

Michigan finished off Northern 2-1.  Looks like it will be Denver-RIT and Cornell-Northern in Albany next weekend.

As far as I can tell, it looks like our bracket will be Denver, us, Northern Michigan, and RIT - probably in Albany.

Cornell ties it at 2 about halfway through the third.

I agree, I think a 10 or 11 is about right.

Jay Bilas on ESPN - a team that could make a George Mason-type run this year is Cornell.  Underseeded as a 12 seed - should be a 5 seed.  Committee looks too much at strength of schedule and not enough at how teams do against their schedule.

Gotta say I agree with Yankee...not a great matchup in the first round against Temple.  Both teams are probably underseeded by 1 or 2 spots so this is more like a 3/4 vs. 10/11 matchup.  Gonna have to shoot the ball well to win.  Good story though at Donahue used to be an assistant for Fran Dunphy at Penn.
