I live in Newburgh.  If you got that far, you should've just taken the train out of Salisbury Mills to the PATH right to downstairs at MSG.  No parking problems. **]

I'm still looking around for tickets.  I guess I might have to go up to Clarkson/SCSU or the RPI holiday tourney.

Hockey / Re: B2 Webcasts of Road Games

I have the Clarkson season package and it's worked out well so far.  The game is still being televised by the students, so you have the occasional miss following the puck, but they've improved greatly.  The picture quality is better than the old webcast from the Clarkson website.  It looks good in a 4x4 or 5x5 screen, to go full screen is grainy.

The audio for the Clarkson webcasts is our radio announcer Bob Ahfeldt, usually partnered with Josh Bartell ('96) for home games.  Between periods, you get the students' commentary.

The only thing I will warn you... if you want to listen to your announcers and watch the game on B2, there can be up to a 30 second delay in the B2 broadcast.  We've noticed that with people in our chat room that are listening to the radio versus the B2 subscription.

Hockey / Re: Cornell/BU Thanksgiving (11/24) Ticket Info
November 11, 2007, 09:34:19 AM
Now, back on topic... I just went to Ticketmaster and they don't have any seats available, even a single seat.  I can't imagine the game is sold out, although I have heard that they've opened up the blue seats.

Although red is one of my least favorite colors, I was planning on going down to MSG to support college hockey ... or head up to Potsdam for the SCSU weekend.  I guess ticketmaster is making the choice for me.

I've been to the TD Center twice now for hockey games and I have a couple of comments to add.  Sure the arena is nice and new but the sight lines aren't the greatest in the lowest seats.  The opposing team has to enter and exit at the west end of the ice, right through the middle of the student section.  That has resulted in comments (no problem) as well as objects being thrown at/on opposing players (not so good).

Besides that, it's well lit (of course), has a great and sometimes overbearing sound system, and a nice scoreboard that for some reason isn't capable of showing replays.  They also don't have cameras mounted for official replay, which seems kind of odd for a new arena.  The arena gives you more of a AHL attitude than a college hockey air.  Parking isn't an issue, but egress from the arena is an issue.  It doesn't seem they've taught security there how to move people and cars.

I went to my first game at Lynah last year.  As a Clarkson fan, the result was disappointing, but you can't beat the atmosphere.

Naah, if you look at the Clarkson roster, we have very very few engineering majors on our team too.  It's just the engineering school rivalry :)

The last two times I have been to RIP, they have had to do giveaways to make sure fans were wearing the right color.  For the Clarkson game this year, you could get a free, yet fashionable red t-shirt to support your Redhawks (I refuse to call them engineers) sponsored by Verizon.  In addition to that, they had free pom-poms on every seat.

It's really a shame when you can't count on your own fans in your own house to know what colors to wear and to support your team.

While you're at HFH, I would suggest having a good meal at the concession stands.  They are generally staffed by student-athletes from RPI's other division III programs and they get a portion of the concession sales to support their teams.  I always order food there to support the dedication of these student athlets.

If you do get in the way of something, be sure to trip puckman.

Actually, I got tickets online for the Clarkson/RPI game and they sold me a ticket in the top row at center ice.  Despite the fact that you get a wood bench as opposed to a seat (the bench might actually be more comfortable), it's a great place to see a game and there's some knowledgable hockey folks up there.

Hahaha!  I'll have your back Drew ... I'm off to work, but to leave the Lynah faithful one last message ... BEAT SLU!!!

This is great news.  Two of the teams I despise the most will be playing a hockey game right up the road a piece from me.  (Still some hard feelings over that BU game in ummm 92???)  Despite all this, it is hockey, and quality college hockey, count this Clarkson fan in for the game and the good of college hockey.

(Maybe you Ivy Leaguers can go taunt Columbia while you're there)

I sat through that RIP game wearing my circa 1991 mesh hockey jersey (game worn and it was free) thinking that I should donate my jersey back to them so at least one player wouldn't look like a crayon box.  They are almost as horrible as the international style jerseys some schools have.

Yeah oceans... we've seen that on quite a few occasions this year with Leggio.  It seems he has great lateral movement when the play is in front of him, but very little on the wraparounds.  With that said, it doesn't seem that Clarkson's defence is interested in controlling the back of the net (I noticed that in the RPI game too).  Cornell's defence did a great job of boxing out Clarkson's forwards and not allowing chances on the long rebounds that Scrivens leaves out.  They helped compensate for their keeper's weakness, it's about time Clarkson's talented D does the same.

Dang, now you're picking on my school.  We actually had a very good technical communications department when I was there, but there definitely wasn't much focus on the "fine art of the English language."  Actually, our equivalent of Literature 101 and 102 was called Great Ideas 1 and 2 and that was the last I remember seeing of literature.

Clarkson does the jock jams thing during warmups (or they did when I was there) and I hate it.  I could hear that crap on the radio; I'm there for the atmosphere which includes the band (except may Harvard's band, because if I wanted to go to a concert in Potsdam, State has a music school).

Maybe it was toothpaste that didn't bring their band, crap I can't remember now.  I wish today I would have stayed with the band for 4 years, but I worked in a bar, and it's tough to get every Friday and Saturday off.

Ahh yes, I did hear that clipboard chant.  Honestly, I would like to see the names on the backs of the jerseys too... I follow Clarkson hockey, but I don't see every game and I forget the second level players.  Poor Grant, that had to be a tough name to live through high school with.

As an outsider, the conversation about grammar is just killing me.  Then again, Clarkson is an engineering school, so we aren't expected to have good grammar.
