Barron signs a new 2-year deal with Winnipeg:

Malinski signed a 1-year extension with the Avs a few weeks ago:

He's a former 5th round pick of the Bruins who played 4 years at Ferris State as an offensive-minded D-man. There isn't a ton of coaching experience on his resume, given his age, but he ran the powerplay during his 2 years as an assistant at Norwich, and he was apparently also the head golf coach there as well (which explains the odd photo athletics opted to run with the story).

Quote from: chimpfoodNumbers are also shown on the roster. Gorski is 2, Veilleux 4, McCrady 7, Ryan 12, Fisher 16, Long 17, DiGiulian 18, Arsenault 19, Hiscock 21, Pirtle 22, Hamilton 26, Ashton 27, Cournoyer 30, Roest 40.

I can't remember another #40 for Cornell, anyone got one?
Major was 16 last year. Is he changing numbers?
16 to 9

Does the number automatically come with the "Lynah Fan Favorite" title?

MacDonald, Kempf, Stienburg and the rest of Colorado got shut out 5-0 by Abbotsford and were eliminated.

Speaking of Colorado and the AHL, here's a nice  article/interview from a few weeks ago (just prior to the start of the playoffs) on Jacob MacDonald and the impact he's made this season. He discusses how he had hoped to remain in San Jose last year, but that Colorado has become a much better fit, especially with him back on the blue line full-time:

Colorado and Abbotsford play a decisive game five today, with the winner moving onto the conference finals against the Texas Stars.

Quote from: sah67With the Jets' elimination last night, we're officially out of Cornell alums playing in the playoffs.

Brianne Jenner is still alive in the Walter Cup final for Ottawa. Game one is Tuesday. All games are on YouTube in the US.

Nice! Thanks for the correction.

Barron being a good teammate:

Schiefele had every right to be incensed though: he took a nasty sucker punch (while being held back by a ref) from Jamie Benn.

Quote from: pfibigerPretty sure I recall that Doug Krantz was 21 as a freshman.

Penney, Mack and O'Leary were all 21 as freshmen too. FFJOL turned 22 in March of his freshman year.

Quote from: TrotskyBoy, he tries, though!  He is busting his ass every second out there, and that is wonderful to see.

I think the whole taking a skate blade to the face and getting 75 stitches only to return later in the same game situation back in the 2023 playoffs forever endeared Barron to his teammates (and Jets fans):

Quote from: BeeeejNot that Morgan did a ton to acquit himself later in the game

Even though he wasn't superb in the faceoff dot tonight, I saw several strong shifts from him in both OT periods, and Arniel must have a lot of faith in his play as he was 5th among Winnipeg forwards in ice time with 26:42.

And the Jets get it done in 2OT on a deflection from Joel Lowry's brother, Adam!

Barron's line starting the game so he'll be taking the opening face off.

Barron joined Malott and Malinski in having a nice goal wiped out due to a challenge for offsides last night. If that wasn't bad enough, Winnipeg got thumped 5-3 and will go to Game 7 on Sunday.
