Quote from: slh10Ferlin signing with Bruins at entry level contract. Really hoped we would not have anyone leave early. Good luck Brian!!!

Another year, particularly a star turn on a probable national title contender, could've raised his stock considerably.

I agreed with you totally until that sentence. I think they will be fortunate to be a league title contender. I don't think there is anything dramatic coming next year to bring them from 4th best in the division with an anemic offense, to a national title contender. We have no idea what their quality of goal tending is going to be like, chronic offense problems and a defense that is good, but not a shut down level D.

As a whole, I saw Ferlin as a selfish puck-hog who isn't nearly as good as he thinks he is. While he certainly drew attention of the defense, he isn't a team player and I believe the team as a whole is better off without him. I believe Cole has the talent to be a star and is a major team player. If he can learn to take more of the spotlight, Cornell will be much better off.

Anyone know what happened with that shot early in the 3rd. Cornell appeared to score, everyone around me thought the puck was in and bounced right back out. Didn't hear a post, nothing. Anyone get another angle or see it on redcast, replay, etc.?

Thanks

There was a random moment in the second period that here was a mostly standing ovation. There was no penalty, no goal, play was stopped, etc. Anyone know what happened?

These are just some of the million general Facebook discussions that are posted everyday. They're not actual awards or whatever. Don't get too excited.

Could you please go back to doing Pinball Wizard? It used to be a second intermission staple and I always thought was the most impressive song you played. Sweet child of mine and freebird kinda fall flat. Please go back to your money song, I miss it!

Thanks,

A lifelong Big Red pep band fan.

Quote from: gatefanI know I'm a Colgate fan, but the way I see it is that for Cornell to have won last Saturday, he would have needed a shutout. You can't ask for much more than what he did. It was the offense's fault that you guys did not sweep.

Speaking of shutouts -- seems like it's been a long time since CU hasn't thrown one shutout (not including USA development team) in a season. Now would be a good time.

Scrivens is missed.

I'm as big of a fan of Scrivens as anyone, but offense is their problem, not goalie perfomance.  Not sure he will make that grand of a difference.

Also, I think they will continue to rotate, even though I'm an Iles fan.

Quote from: David HardingThat's not quite right.  There is only one kind of major penalty, the five-minute kind.

You're right David, thanks for the correction, sorry for the mistype.  Typed it quickly, was just trying to point out there are 5 and 10 minute penalties without a game disqual.

Quote from: Tom LentoBut I'm with Jeff - I think of majors as "5 and a game" when I watch college hockey. Interesting that Nicholls didn't get a misconduct for this one.

I'm not sure if this was an old rule, or where you two get that thinking from, but it's just not accurate.  There are both 5 and 10 minute majors, without automatic game disqualifications.  We've had each this year as a matter-of-fact.

Anyone know why Nicholls was out the 3rd period?  Noticed him at the end of the rink in a suit.  His penalty was only a 5min.

"An exhibition game (also known as an exhibition match, exhibition, demonstration, demo, exhibit or friendly) is a sporting event in which there is no competitive value of any significant kind to any competitor (such as tournament or season rankings, or prize money) regardless of the outcome of the competition. The games can be held between separate teams or between parts of the same team. Quality of play is generally valued over the end result. The term scrimmage is also sometimes used, especially with regard to team sports, but is ambiguous because it has other meanings even in that context. Another synonym is preparation match."
