I desperately miss Doug's Fish Fry. They have a truck for events that sometimes pops up in Ithaca. Bed-Stuy Fish Fry is pretty close, and they just opened a third location that's way too close to our apartment in downtown Brooklyn for my own good. 

Doug's is a regular stop for us for takeout when they come to Ithaca. They are here quite regularly in the summer. They also have a nice location in Skaneateles. 

Nice travelogue! Been along time since we traveled in upstate NY by train. The last passenger train serving Ithaca ended service in 1961. I used to travel from Syracuse to Albany by train occasionally in the 1970s.

Everyone enjoy Lake Placid. A bit under the weather this week, so we're watching from Ithaca.

We've spent a fair amount of time in Lake Placid over the years beginning in 1970 with the Cornell NCAA championship games in the 1932 Arena. Many great memories including the 1980 Olympics and then being able to bring our boys to the ECAC Tournament at the Olympic Arena for their first time in 1996 (Schafer's 1st ECAC Championship).

Lake Placid is a wonderful small town.  LGR

Well written.  As an "old" (in every sense of the word) editor, drop the last paragraph.  End the letter with "Let Lynah be Lynah" and send it. That's what I plan to do - updating the dates of my letter to 1966...I was at Ithaca High School and adjust the dates to have never left Ithaca.

Bizarrely, NCAA Division I hockey players can maintain eligibility after playing in pro leagues if they were not compensated beyond "actual and necessary expenses" (meals, lodging, gear). Players must not have signed a professional contract or received a salary, focusing instead on amateur, expense-only agreements.

The ages back then were not all that dark.  However, all my photos of Dryden from that era are in black & white. It does sound that CU could have done a better job Friday night which we missed. Began watching Cornell hockey while at Ithaca High School in 1966. What a great time to begin!
