Re: Cornell vs. Clarkson, game 1 postgame - 18 years ago
Hey next times you guys decide a pick a fight with Rich S or flirt whatever you want to call it can you just start a new thread. Just call it Rich S. You can then get all indignant or kumbaya like in one central easy to shop place. Just for the record, now that i know that Rich S is a goalie i think that the more abuse you all hurl at him the better. Goalies love abuse almost as much as tby WillR - Hockey
Re: Ammo for Clarkson Cheers - 18 years ago
andyw2100Most of the above possible taunts are hilarious. The problem is the vast majority of fans in attendance won't have a clue. Perhaps some Elynah student fan with a little time on their hands this afternoon might print out and make copies of the original article, for distribution at Lynah tonight. (Proper attribution, so people believe it is true, would probably help. I actually wondered ifby WillR - Hockey

DeltaOne81Tom Lento Avoid all Chinese and Thai food in Collegetown. It's cheap, quick, and TERRIBLE. I have no issue with the sit down portion of Little Thai House. I mean, its not Thai Cuisine or even Taste of Thai, but its fine. The takeout portion is, well, eh... but in college, at that price and amount of food, it was a hell of a deal Chinese... yeah, just don't. Collegetown Korean thby WillR - Hockey

fenwickTrotskyOne of the coolest things I ever saw was at Bright, of all places, when they coordinated the launching of hundreds... possibly thousands... of crimson tennis balls after their first goal in a game in the early 80's. The air was so thick with them you couldn't see the opposite side of the building. I don't know whether this was a one-time thing or not, although it probably was. Iby WillR - Hockey
Re: Throwing Objects - 18 years ago
A-19why oranges? When i was at Union i was told Hamilton threw them against Union so we did the same against them. A standard tit fot tat kind of thing. When Union went D1 someone had to take Hamilton's place and logically enough it was the cross town rival at RPI. I don't even recall any discussion, it was basically that we need to throw oranges at a hockey game and RPI was clearly the moby WillR - Hockey
Re: Health of the Big Red - 18 years ago
I have a question, do we think it is approrpriate to discuss injury specifics of people who we go to school with? We are in a position to see more than outsiders, specifically the competition. While I realize that an exchange of information is generally useful, in this case and at the risk of sounding paranoid, it seems to me that less information is better. I have seen some of our injuredby WillR - Hockey

BeeeejRich SI'll beat Beeej or others to the punch here... Nice run-on sentence! It wasn't a well-written sentence, but it wasn't a run-on. And that's "Beeeej," with four Es, please. Beeeej Thank God i have the grammar police here to keep me on the straight and narrow. I shall not stray again until the next post.by WillR - Hockey
Re: This weekend's hockey fix - 18 years ago
Perhaps in the case of Cornell a fee based system it is a way to successfully take advantage of a bunch of obsesive hockey fans who are willing to sell a kidney, though hopefully not at more than 18% value, in order to watch Cornell Hockey.by WillR - Hockey
Re: Throwing Objects - 18 years ago
i actually got tossed from a game and suspended from going to see Union games for a little while for tossing an orange on the ice back when it was a widely observed tradition. It would actually be nice to see the Orange thing restarted at the beginning of the game where it should be. The sight of hundreds of oranges arcing through air on the way to the ice was fantastic. Re: onion/rip road trip roll call - 18 years ago
I would go 79 east to Whitney point. Take a left onto 206 at the Hess station and follow this to Bainbridge. At Bainbridge get on I-88 and start, and keep heading East. When 88 ends and joins i90, get onto rt 7 or rt 337. (don't get onto 90) You want to be on 337 heading north or east this will put you on i-890 for like a mile before you get off, at which point you will be in the lovelyby WillR - Hockey
Re: Anyone watching CAN/SWE women's hockey game now? (OT, but deals w/ IVY league hockey) - 18 years ago
ursaminorThe US Women's Olympic team also played boys' teams at eastern preps, Choate, Salisbury, and Westminister. Article from Choate: Pictures: According to USHR, Westminster beat the Olympians 5-2 and Salisbury beat the Olympians 4-2. The Choate result is not mentioned, and the link above that I posted is vague saying that both teams were happy with the result. They lost to Choate asby WillR - Hockey
Re: Scare tactics email from Gene Nighman - 18 years ago
there is a time and place for all of this. I think at no point are fish or gum appropriate during a warm up or the game. However when the teams enter onto the ice, i say let the fish, gum, toothpaste fly. As long as you can clean it up and it won't hurt anyone (like no throwing old desk-tops and pistons and RPI), then there really is no harm or potential for harm. Also by winging stuff at theby WillR - Hockey
Re: Harvard ejectsion - 18 years ago
i think he has a point. If the fish doesn't make it, it lands on one of us other people in section G. If it makes it does it hit one of our guys. Otherwise i think trow away. Better yet throw something with tentacles, that way if it hits the net it might stick or at least fall slow enough for us to move. I think underhand is the key though. Re: The RED-OUT crowd and "it's all your fault" cheer. - 18 years ago
Slow sieve would be nice. I ll try to give it a go over in G. I seem to recall that the wisconsin fans had a way of just making it hurt when they would score on DU. God i hate them and their bucky badger. Did anyone notice that tonight we had on the ice for Dartmouth..drum roll please Lovejoy Offers Johnson Swallow if we see them again in Albany i think some chant that really harnessby WillR - Hockey
Re: WTF - 18 years ago
krosebillhowardThis isn't a zero sum game. That the wrestling team does well and has a great facility (albeit still farther removed from campus than Lynah and Bartels) hasn't come at the expense of the hockey team. Personally, I'm thrilled that one of our other nationally-competitive teams got recognized enough by the AD to get their own well-deserved facility. When I was in town for the Clarksoby WillR - Hockey

Does this no fish policy mean that squid, octopi, sharks, rays and so on would be OK? If any biology people want to help clarify this important matter that would be great.by WillR - Hockey
Re: Union anthem - 18 years ago
Having gone to Union i would venture that yelling U makes more sense. Lets go U is kind of the same as LGR. That said when i was there in '95 i don't recall the shout out as part of the national anthem so i could be wrong. Though if they/we do then i am all in favor of it even if it doesn't hold a candle to the RED part of the national anthem. -WillRby WillR - Hockey

calgARI '07CowbellGuyHere's another one that always drives me batty. When Seminoff got called on the trip when diving for, and getting, the puck on that partial breakaway in the third I felt like strangling someone. The rule reads: If, in the opinion of a referee, a player on a sweep or hook-check is unquestionably playing the puck and obtains possession of it, thereby tripping the puck caby WillR - Hockey
Re: Colgate Freshman Fun - 18 years ago
Good effort. That usher was an utter ass. I am not quite sure what his purpose was other than to look sullen and try to throw one of us out and stay off the dole. Did you see when one of their drunk fans threw water at our band and hit their rent a cop? She was furious as she headed into the stands and was probably heartbroken when she was told that it wasn't us. -WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
Krose, I think we are basically the same mind. With parking, I merely wanted to point out the University might predictable want to avoid having to look for more spaces. I think that expanding seating west makes the most sense and i am sorry they won't be doing it. i am just not surprised. If they are smart they would make an addition that does not remove this option in the future. Aby WillR - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
I obviously have not looked at the plans as much as you all have -shame on me. But i think 400 more seats is a great thing to do. Like others i would love to have seen stands in the west end but parking is scarce and since clearing woods to park more cars is unpopular..... I think preservering the character of Lynah is important if for no other reason that to keep things the similar enough fby WillR - Hockey
Re: Does anybody else - 18 years ago
Cornell95KeithKThey tore down the historic building! Sure, they kept the facade but they basically tore it down. I admit the place was something of a dump by the late 90's and it's kind of cool that they could do it that way, but they still basically tore down a historic building and called it a renovation. (It still kind of pisses me off. It was our dump!) From what I remember the dining hby WillR - Hockey

Re: KEEP IT RED - 18 years ago
I am confused about how can one not own red clothing. Is it not close to manadatory to pick up the Lynah Faitful T-shirt when getting tickets? I would then think that unless you have some cornell hockey attire or other red outfit you just can't stand to leave home without then it would just make sense to wear the aforementioned red t-shirt to all Cornell games? -WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Cornell @ Colgate Postgame 2/4 - 18 years ago
My few thoughts. The Colgate fans probably weren't all bad, but a lot of them were wanting for class. Amazingly the multiple "fuck you Cornell" calls right in front of the ushers didn't even raise an eyebrow. The "drink my period blood" chant by a bunch of 'gate guys was amazing if for the only reason that this would have been clever in grade school, college not so much so.by WillR - Hockey
Going to Colgate? - 18 years ago
Hey is anyone here going to Colgate? More to the point is anyone offering/needing a ride? Any suggestions on the best way to get there? My appologies if this is not the correct place to post this query. Thanks, WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Colgate is going to have a "whiteout" Sat night. Should we have a red out for the game friday night? - 18 years ago
I was at first excited that winter might finally arrive in bare ground central new york, alas this is not the case. However since i have been lured in i must respond. Without reading the tootpaste article and in lieu of a bright idea, i think a viral approach would help and be practical from an execution standpoint. Re: Quick rules question: checking the hell out of McNulty - 18 years ago
One other thing on the McNulty play. It seemed that not only did little c come out to play the puck he also initiated the pyhysical play with Sawada. I couldn't see if this was a result of loosing his stick and an attempt to make up for it. Either way it was not a clever thing to do. The point of this is that on the rare occasion that i have seen the goalie get physical with the player the refby WillR - Hockey
Re: Clarkson jerseys - 18 years ago
I can't recall the term of art for colors...is it "Pantone"...someone help me here...but I was told that the uni companies call the Tech color "gold" or whatever the industry name for it is. In the trade there is a uniform definition of colors. The colors would be Pantone ____, something alpha numeric. Thus one can specify an exact Pantone color for Clarkson's yellow. Tby WillR - Hockey
