Re: Hocky Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
Ben Rocky 04Aside from a quiz of Lynah knowledge, thats the best idea any one has put forth. Why not do all of them. 1. You must preregister with a quiz, a few things Cornell specific would be great as would some general hockey knowledge. Admittedly it's easy but at least it could force people to expose themselves to hockey knowlegde so they can better understand it from the beginning.by WillR - Hockey
Re: HockEy Tickets 2006/7 - 17 years ago
What a disapointing outcome if this has become a lottery. I like the idea of making people go through as many steps as possible. I would add even more steps just to try to weed out those who don't want them enough, but the list of things to do doesn't seem likely to disuade enough non-fans Is there a limit to how many people can join the band? This might be the best way around a lottery.by WillR - Hockey
Hockey Leadership - 17 years ago
Who are the players slated to be captain and assistant captain this season? I recall that this was covered earlier -not that i can find it- and that OB was one of the leaders for next year. If that is the case, is anyone replacing him? Thanks, Willby WillR - Hockey
Re: hockey team summer recreation - 17 years ago
Not sure about the legality of swimming in the gorges. As for reservoir swimming do mean Beebe lake or one of the other impoundments? I swam in Beebe lake 2 years ago down by the dam, and found to my disgust that it is almost entirely silted in. Legal or not, it should not be done by anything other than a dog. Further up by the stone bridge i was around people who were jumping, and i mayby WillR - Hockey

so unlike certain events involving a lacrosse team in the south i shall withhold judgement of guilt or innocence until a later date, but does anyone have an idea on how accurate these tests are? One other thing that has always bothered me about these tests is if tests can accurately tell the difference between naturally occuring levels of any drug and/or its effects from what what the naturalby WillR - John Spencer Is Dead

ugarteRe: You know you are itching for college hockey when...You see Erik Cole with the Stanley Cup and you sigh. And make a recovery-from-syphillis joke that your fiancee does not understand. I get the Clarkson/Cole park of this, but the syphillis part eludes me. Anyone want to explain this? Thanks, WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Mission Accomplished - 18 years ago
RobbWillR Actually she isn't even pragmatic. She may however be delusional. Only if the vote would have been tied in the absence of her voting and she breaks the tie does her vote actually count. I am not arguing for all of us to stay home on election day, but we might want to tone down our expectations come the next election if we really think we count. Re: OLÉ! - 18 years ago
I know this is not "new" but for Clarkson I think the Addams family song modified to fit the incestuous Clarkson family would work. If more than a soul knew the words someone here came up with it would work very well for Clarkson. I think it was something to the effect of: Your uncle is your bother Sister is your mother You all do one another The Clarkson family. I came upby WillR - Hockey
Re: Section C Diaspora - 18 years ago
TrotskykroseTrotskyI received an email from a fellow fan who has heard that season ticket holders in section C will be "offered" seating in F and G. If true, well, golly gee, athletics: way to show your respect and sensitivity for a lot of people who have been supporting the program for, in many cases, several decades. It's true they could have moved the townies out of M and around tby WillR - Hockey
Re: McKee Could Dress Tonight - 18 years ago
calgARI '07J-S Gigeure is out of the lineup with a lower body injury. I think it happened today at morning skate. Bryzgalov gets the start, but I'm guessing McKee will be backing up unless their taxi squad is with the team which would only be the case if Portland has been eliminated. EDIT: CBC is saying that McKee is ineligible to dress so they called someone up on emergency basis. False alby WillR - Hockey

jtwcornell91A-19ebilmesLenny ended up letting in 5 goals on 31 shots against Nashville. actually think he let up 4. the 5th went in on a delayed phx penalty when a defenseman shot it into his own net. i dont think lenny was in net at the time (you would presume he was skating to the bench) But the goalie still gets charged with the GA in that scenario Are you sure? Re: No love for Bruno - 18 years ago
if only this was like rugby, then we could have a southern hemisphere that would start to pick up just about the time the northern one was winding down. in this world we could at least talk hockey all year. Sadly, i think that we are to the point that if one of us were to post a player's family recipie for chocolate chip cookies that would count as post worthy news for a week. -WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Duke to forfeit games to Georgetown and Mount St. Mary's - 18 years ago
is it just me or is this case now just as dead as the Duke lacrosse season? I have to admit that when i first heard this it all sounded credible and i figured one of those bastards was guilty. Now i guess that was a bit premature. No doubt if it turns out that no crime was commited, by the lax team at least, then they got royally screwed and i kind of feel bad for them.by WillR - Other Sports
Cornell hosts polo championships - 18 years ago
This is a bit different than the usual sports but worth getting out there. Men's and Women's teams will be playing here at Cornell at the Oxley Equestrian Center. The tournament begins today and continues until around the 7th (i think that is right). At the end hopefully both sides will be able to hoist another national championship banner. Women kick it off at 5 against Yale. The men pby WillR - Other Sports
Re: Dividing loyalties? - 18 years ago
This is in retrospect an easy question but last year, my first at Cornell, i would have had a harder time with this. Last year i figured Union was in no danger of beating Cornell and was going to have a hard enough time as is, so i wore some Union stuff and cheered for both teams but mostly for Union. When union lost i wasn't sad. This year i figured i woudl repeat the same deal, however when Cby WillR - Hockey

I have one addition thought about seating. How many rows of standing students can they add before eyelevel of the standing students is raised to the level of the rafter beams? Anyone have any thoughts on this? -WillRby WillR - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Wisconsin postgame thread (post-season thread?) NCAA semifinal 2006 - 18 years ago
Although this results sucks, it was one hell of a game and the team finished the season strong. In some ways it seemed like a stronger playoff run than last year even if the result was the same. I am sad that this was the last season to watch as a student which can only mean i am doomed to spending even more time on eLynah in additione to taking time to travel to the odd game here and thereby WillR - Hockey
Re: Lynah's spectator-unfriendly netting - 18 years ago
las224Sitting in G, I don't really find the net very intrusive. You just get used to the grid-vision, but it doesn't actually block any of my view. Is the net different on the other end of the rink or something? I sat in G two years. The netting sucks. It does obstruct your view. It used to be that hockey fans accepted this. Some people were hit, but many more ended up with souveniers aby WillR - Hockey

atb9I'm there plus a few. Got tickets in 102 DD; I'm trying to come up with anti-castro signs. I'm also working on freeing up my Thursday so that I can watch practices again. Anti-Castro? A little explanation please. Good luck on watching practice. I went to Lynah today and was kicked out in less than a minute. Hope you have better luck.by WillR - Hockey

nuclear614I'll be there in the number 13 with the red and leopard banded pimp hat. We'll have a small, but loud and hopefully obnoxious contingent on hand from the Johnson School. I'm so pumped about this weekend I'm trying to get my 3-year old to respond to the "Harvard....sucks" chant again. Greenberg are you hiding under an alias? You should be with that hat. Re: Lynah Rink Renovation Blog - 18 years ago
i think you are all seriously disturbed. I mean c'mon are you really telling me that you NEED to see what is likely to be close to 300+ days of construction? If you are really going to follow this perhaps CSTV could offer the construction channel. It could be the 24hr construction network, all construction all the time. I will of course check this new web site frequently. Also I stopped bby WillR - Hockey

jtwcornell91WillOatThey stayed around on the ice for a while after the game to salute their fans. I didn't know if this was acceptable or not. I guess it was, because otherwise Schafer would have gotten in their and used his hands to "safely guide them off the ice" like he did with Michigan State goons. Re: Ammo for Clarkson Cheers - 18 years ago
andyw2100cth95Great ideas! Better than I had even imagined. I knew you guys would be able to run with this the moment I saw the article. And all because my sister happened to be visiting my mother and wanted me to come by for a couple of hours, during which I skimmed the headlines of the local North Country newspaper. Did any of these new cheers work Friday? I didn't hear the broadcast. Nby WillR - Hockey
