Re: Walkup sales in Albany? - 16 years ago
Two years ago I drove there for the championship game. Plenty of seats available in the Cornell section (not that it matters- you can basically sit wherever you want). That reminds me...some sucks fans had a luxury box, and had their view "obstructed" by standing Cornell fans. The "yeah right" face that this one security guard gave was priceless when the harvard snobs demaby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: the PWR - 16 years ago
You're certainly entitled to your opinion, but if you would deny a bid to a team that played 12 games against the top 5 teams in the country while allowing (insert team here) in that hasn't played a quality opponent all season, then boo to you. I can go out, find 5 other guys, put myself in goal, play against all the WCHA teams, and lose as well... Yes I know it's a ridiculous statement,by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Hahvahd 3 @ Cornell 1 Postgame - 16 years ago
I agree with this... good post. These are young guys who should be able to handle long shifts (like 40 seconds) at times. If you want a certain defensive pair against their top line- fine. But to keep the best offensive line off the ice when you're behind is absurd. If you're up by a bunch of goals, by all means roll four lines. And to further this point, I don't think the situation is new to thby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Interesting correspondence between fan and Paul Stewart - 16 years ago
If it is actually a hook or a hold or a slash... but I agree- it's obviously a balance, and I think that ECAC officiating has been reasonable over the past few years regarding calls/non-calls. My comment was more directed towards the NHL. (I think this letter-writer may be basing his opinion at least in part on the pro situation)by Cactus12 - Hockey

Re: Alumni in the Pros - February 2008 - 16 years ago
This move doesn't really do much for either team. Montoya was not going to draw anything big- case of AHL overexposure in my opinion. They could have had Lundqvist extended last year and moved Montoya for a bit more (but I guess not doing that allowed for gomez/drury acquisition, so can't really argue management there). As for LeNeveu... I think he's going to be Wolfpack for quite some time.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 7 RPI 1 (postgame) - 16 years ago
Great to finally get to a home game this season. The team looked really, really good and some of the goals were quite nice. From my view in section B, it looked like the Davenport goal was put top shelf on a backhand after waiting out the goalie??! Also, Topher had a nice move in close. There's not much you can say bad about a game like this. RPI's only goal came on a 5x3. Otherwise the kill was dby Cactus12 - Hockey

Re: Tech 4 Cornell 2 (Post-Game Thread) - 16 years ago
amerks127If we don't come out and play 100% of the game, the team will not win against quality teams. I don't think that any Cornell teams in the past few years (maybe 02-03) have been afforded the ability to win at less than full effort. For example, there were 8 one-goal wins in 04-05 (and 3 losses, 2 not counting those played on olympic ice after bullshit seeding and crappy officiating, butby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Tech 4 Cornell 2 (Post-Game Thread) - 16 years ago
I agree with Jim. The fact that the upperclassmen aren't stepping up their games isn't reflective of the young talent, which IMO is fine. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find many (if any) teams across the ECAC with higher skill levels in the younger classes. Yes this is certainly bolstered by Riley Nash and Greening, but there's still talent. I do think the Schafer system is based on a level ofby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Additional suspension for RPI - hit on Scali - 16 years ago
I also agree that the suspension was deserved. I don't think there was intent to injure, but it was an extremely dangerous play. This was not a situation where Scali turned his back to the play. The RPI player had time to let up and instead drilled him into the boards. It's one of those hits where you're glad no one has a concussion. Re: Cornell 2 RPI 1 (Post-game thread) - 16 years ago
I was not attacking his overall performance tonight. He made some key saves. I was merely noting that one of his repeated positional decisions seemed absolutely bizarre. RPI could not capitalize. A better team might have. Yes, it's a win, but in my opinion tonight was not a well-played game of hockey by either team. The Scott-Kennedy-Sawada line had some descent offensive pressure, and more imby Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Cornell 2 RPI 1 (Post-game thread) - 16 years ago
A question/comment on Scrivens... Does anyone else notice that he likes to remain about 3 feet from the net for some length of time after playing the puck along the boards? He was nearly caught way way way out of position twice.by Cactus12 - Hockey
Re: Delayed whistle rule - 16 years ago
Yeah, the rule is not in question... I wasn't clear on whether Scrivens had control or not before falling backwards.by Cactus12 - Hockey
