Re: Cornell lacrosse 2020 - 4 years ago
That's a brutal early schedule. Good chance first seven games will be against top 10-15 ranked teams. My main beef is the Ivy rotation is the same each year. It would be nice if it varied some so we don't always get top 2 contenders as our first league games every year - but then there is only one cupcake in the league this year.by TimV - Other Sports
Re: Alumni News: 2019-20 - 4 years ago
Not sure it belongs here, but since Coach IS an alumnus, see the 1984-1985 Press Guide. Type Cornell in the sports collectables category and they have a batch of cards of players on the 93-94 team. Vinnie Auger!by TimV - Hockey

Trotsky Love that he was a pp specialist. Moar, plz. Talarico ran the penalty-killing unit, Is that the part of our special teams we needed to improve?by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
Trotsky upprdeckthere are not a ton of die hard football fans left I have been wondering about this since, literally, the 80s. I can absolutely understand a large and fervent football fanbase going all the way through the 1940s when we were still beating nationally ranked B10 teams. So let's be generous and say people up to 1939 births have some business being Cornell football fans. And obviby TimV - Other Sports

Re: New Lynah scoreboard - 4 years ago
David Harding Cop at Lynahi know it's still the preseason but i really hope shooting accuracy is a point of emphasis going forward Maybe it has been. God, I hope so. It hasn't been in the past.by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell Football 2019 - 4 years ago
billhoward Gonna be any football discussion in the Cornell football thread? There are a lot of positives for 2019. Here's three. We have a veteran coach familiar with the Cornell system. The prediction for Cornell this year has the Big Red all the way up to seventh. Nobody has been paid under the table to play at Cornell. We have a system??? The voting was close. You know this how, exaby TimV - Other Sports
Re: New Lynah scoreboard - 4 years ago
marty Chris '03 Just feels like a prelude to "last minute of play brought to you by Cayuga medical center" and pushing the same intermission videos we see on the stream. I bet there will be something unnecessary for when the team takes the ice too. Blech. In Troy we have the Jones, Hacker, Murphy Powerplay. The only consolation is that Jones is dopey enough to sit in sectionby TimV - Hockey
Re: 2019-20 Schedule - 4 years ago
Trotsky Jeff Hopkins '82 Fortress Invitational? What happened to Ice Vegas? Branding, baby. The Army logo is impressively stupid. "What if we ran a sword through Sparty's head?" 2nd place for stupid is that bear trying to squeeze through the Ohio State O,by TimV - Hockey

billhoward I'm trying to recall the architectural details that unit Lynah, Schoellkopf and Berman. Flat bench seats that haven't changed form since 1929?by TimV - Other Sports
Re: Indoor Practice Facility - 5 years ago
billhoward We're seeing right-sized fields for non-football. Princeton has the best in Class of '52 Field, about 4,000 seats, steeply pitched for good sightlines, dressing facilities for men / women / visitors. Yale has Stevenson Field near Yale Bowl although its 3,000 seats were barely enough for Yale-Cornell lax. I think Stevenson Field is Brown's current lacrosse-soccer facility. Trotsky marty Leaching done right! Alternately. Wait a minute. You guys are talking about LEECHING. LEACHING is when the lead in your wine decanter comes out into the wine and gives you brain damage along with your liver damage. Greg- that one is just commerce.by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
djk26 I realize that it was against terrible competition, but JJ Lombardi looked pretty good yesterday. Any chance he can get some more playing time? Depth is always a good thing, and I never understand why freshmen don't seem to make the field in lacrosse. It's not that way in hockey. JJ is good, and will be a star. Would like to see him more. Some freshmen see the field but it's highlby TimV - Other Sports

I also can't complain about that list, the Towson ranking being somewhat anomalous- they're getting a lot of mileage out of their wins over Loyola and JHU. But Towson aside, and maybe High Point that ranking looks OK to me. Other than those two teams, who do you think we deserve to be ahead of? I think the Yale loss looked worse than it was - as pointed out on that game thread the defense wasby TimV - Other Sports

Dutchman Congrats on a great series. You deserved all the wins. The better team is moving on. Good luck going forward and especially the NCAA's. Dutchman, tonight on USCHO Forum ...unless Cornell can bring their refs from Ithaca. Fuggin' hypocrite...by TimV - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 3: Union vs. Cornell (4:00 PM Start) - 5 years ago
In post game interviews the Union coach said he hopes the chippiness continues today. Typical.by TimV - Hockey
Re: ECAC QF Game 2: Union vs. Cornell - 5 years ago
We have a home ice disadvantage. All thse teams that play in front of no one at home get fired up by our crowd. If we don't draw as well, those teams are STILL playing in front of a larger than usual crowd and our guys aren't.by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell-Yale Lacrosse - 5 years ago
Swampy TimV rss77 Defense getting gassed-a potent offensive team with possessions is a formula for success. Faceoffs truly this team's kryptonite-couldn't believe Cornell ranked 72 out of 73 in D 1 on faceoffs. Part of that is because they've faced four of the five top faceoff guys in the country. But only part. They way overused Racimovich today. Would have liked to see them change up moreby TimV - Other Sports

Re: Men's & Women's Awards 2018-19 - 5 years ago
Al DeFlorio Jim HylaI still hate that this is named after Tim Taylor. Maybe the award was funded by a clipboard manufacturer. Tim Taylor was from a Boston Blue Blood family and was a close friend of Jack (Screw BU) Parker and Bill Cleary. Ned Harkness was just a Canadian Bombardier.by TimV - Hockey
Re: Cornell lacrosse 2019 - 5 years ago
billhoward upprdeck but the last last penalty cornell had the ball in offensive end and then something was called.. too many penalties, not sure which is worse to have that or no wins on the X Box score says that in addition to scoring 8-0-8 (on 10 shots), Clarke Petterson was also 3-03:00 on penalties. Trying to remember: Does college lacrosse still eject a player for five personal fouls? Fby TimV - Other Sports
