Trotsky RobbTrotskyThe world needs finance bros too.Needs? What - are the poors hungry again? "Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." Fwiw my friend the BC grad is a union organizer. I guess that’s the opposite of a finance bro. A bit closer to the Jesuit tradition.by arugula - Hockey

Would the Ivy have allowed Malone and Tupker to play? I don’t think so as they were playing as grad students.by arugula - Hockey
Re: ECAC Early and Grad Departures 2024 - 6 weeks ago
Seger still has a grad year? Go to another school? I think both Bancroft and Ondrej would be nuts to go pro now. Their games are nowhere near ready for NHL and do they want to toil away in the ECHL or AHL versus getting coached maximally by Schaf to be as ready as possible. Minor league money is not that good.by arugula - Hockey

jtwcornell91 Trotsky arugula It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. 40 years here, too. It is. It's primarily the self-absorption of Bostonians. BC students are likely to be locals. BU gets a large contingent of kids who didn't get into Ivies, so the solution of Boston Idiocy has been diluted. Trotsky arugulaWow. Ad hominem much? My experience on bc’s campus was a good looking group. My experience with people who call others physically unattractive is they generally should buy a mirror. Ad hom is attacking the poster. I was attacking the people of Chestnut Hill. Obviously, any friend or blood relative of yours who has attended BC is stunningly beautiful, and would be a New Englanby arugula - Hockey

It is? I’ve been following college hockey for forty years (oy vey!). Never experienced it from the BC group. As to not recruiting in Canada, if you have New England, why bother? I don’t see that as sanctimony I see it as realpolitik. I’m more regionally biased. I pretty much hate all the western schools and BU and of course our league rivals.by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA Tournament 2024 - 6 weeks ago
Jeff Hopkins '82 Trotsky Robb DU, UMich, BC, BU. Does the blood get any bluer? The two western teams with the most championships and the two eastern teams with the most championships. Yawn.Minnesota for Denver would be bluer. Go Pioneers. Least objectionable of the F4, with a fine Cornell history. Yep. That's where I stand, too. Perplexed by the objection to BC? Can you explain.by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 6 weeks ago
abmarks RichH But those memories are often washed out and faded deeply by the heartbreak and gut-punches that all happened a day or two later. But we had good times there for the regional stay. Frustrating that the feeling is always so fleeting. This quote needs to be held at the ready for these eventual situations: Next time we finally win a QF game and then lose the Semi. Except the heartbby arugula - Hockey

scoop85 BearLover I think Walsh was a fairly unique case. It’s possible, though. One analog to Robertson is Alex Green, another puck moving D who was drafted in the fourth round in 2018 after his freshman season at Cornell. Green had several inches on Robertson but nowhere near Robertson’s level of production in either juniors or during freshman year. While Green was a nice college defenseman,by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 6 weeks ago
BearLover arugula So for whom to root today? Jack or Zach? This is why we needed Wisconsin to win last round. I’m going Jack. Several reasons. I hate Q,I don’t hate BC, a good client and friend is a loyal BC guy, two of my all time favorites-Leetch and Krieder went to BC, and when my daughter, CAS ‘25, was looking at colleges, she and we all loved BC.by arugula - Hockey
Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 6 weeks ago
BearLover Beeeej ugarte "Can't we pull one damn upset" just doesn't rock my world the way "Clemsoning" became a synonym for choking until they finally won one. Yes, I want to win a championship but there have been two teams in my life that I thought were actually reasonably capable of it. One lost in the semifinals and one was taken away BY THE GLOBALISTS. This is pretty mucby arugula - Hockey

Re: NCAA QF - Denver - 6 weeks ago
abmarks BearLover Dafatone BearLover I guess I’m just kind of tired of it. “The future is bright.” “This freshman class is gonna be really special.” “Cornell will be the favorite in the ECAC next season.” That’s all well and good but at some point you actually have to win. It took a crazy series of events for us to end up in the NCAA quarterfinals with a great chance to win, but we DID end up theby arugula - Hockey

The referee who called it couldn’t see it. He surmised it. The back referee near center ice had the view of it and did not call it. Lame.by arugula - Hockey
