Re: ECAC 2013-14 - 10 years ago
nyc94 marty nyc94 Union knocks off top ranked St. Cloud 4-1. St. Cloud falls from the top of the Pairwise and is replaced by Providence. And Providence is led by former Union coach Nate Leaman. That is primarily why I found it of interest. That and when was the last time Providence was at the top of anything? The top of a list of largest cities in Rhode Island?by Josh '99 - Hockey

But part of it is just due to the fact that a lot of places close at 11. (Also, isn't Soho kind of where old people go to the theater?) Soho is where old pervs go to the "theater." Jordan 04 Jim Hyla To bring us back to what is really happening, as opposed to what some people wanted (or want to complain about), this CHN page list the dates and the sites. RichH Josh '99 Trotsky So much for DC being a slam dunk. The 3 non-FL sites seem reasonable. TB is dependent on whether you believe in "growing the sport," as opposed to being rational and non-evil.TB was fun for those of us who went, which certainly seems like a rational, non-evil factor to consider. Josh '99 Jim Hyla The Frozen Four bids are released Wednesday. And while getting to NYC is easy, getting around is not. The public transit city, while broad stretching, is confusing.BS. RichH A bandie mentioned in an email that the band was asked not to refer to players by their first names last night. I'm not sure if that came from an usher or an Athletics representative, but I'm assuming the latter.Seems like a pretty random restriction. Any rationale given?by Josh '99 - Hockey

billhoward Josh '99 Josh '99 It needed to be said. It's been ten years and Harvard sucks just as much as ever. Awesome: The fifteen minutes of fame lasts ten years and counting."fame" seems like a serious overstatement in this case.by Josh '99 - Hockey

hockeyfan23 I love his size. Adding some bigger players. Is this a fluke? or does cornell like big players? would make complete sense considering we have one of the smallest ice surfaces in college hockey. Is this actually true? Lynah is (nominally) 200x85, same as most other arenas, though I suppose if the corner radius is non-standard it could still be smaller than typical.by Josh '99 - Hockey

css228 MattS Chris '03 According to John Buccigross, Gillam is only the third NCAA goalie to score a goal, ever. Video on sportscenter. College Hockey, Inc. says he's the 8th college goalie to be credited with a goal. 3rd to shoot it into an empty net. Let's face it being the last to touch the puck isn't really scoring a goal, its just how they credit an own goal. That's why when everyone thinby Josh '99 - Hockey

billhoward Jeff Matthews? Second-team again, this year behind Princeton QB Quinn Epperly, after being first-team as a sophomore. All due respect to Mathews, but I can't really argue with this. Epperly had the highest completion percentage and fewest interceptions of anyone with over 100 passing attempts, and also threw for the most touchdowns (25). He was also Princeton's leading rusher (4th oveby Josh '99 - Other Sports
Re: Yale 11/23 - 10 years ago
cbuckser css228 Swampy css228 dag14 You are right. We were outshot 31-29. What other facet of the game did we not control? Time of possession? Hits? PP? PK? Not only was this our best game so far this season, this was the best game I have seen a Lynah since I can't remember when. Gives one hope for the rest of the season. Re: Recruits - 10 years ago
andyw2100 capswon Dont forget about Donovan Ott as well. He played for the Hershey Jr. Bears then the Philadelphia Junior Flyers. He committed prior to his sophmore year at South Kent. AYHL has tons of talent. Agree with Palecco have gotten to watch him play against my son for years, he always played up a birth year.BTW best thing about going to Hackensack for a game against the Avalanche is Brooby Josh '99 - Hockey
Re: Ivy football 2013 winners & losers - 10 years ago
billhoward Let's hope Cornell can find traction under David Archer. I know we hoped for that under Ken Austin the three years before Archers, and Jim Kowles the 6 years before that, and Pete Mangurian ... and etcetera. Princeton has shown it can be done. We've talked about wanting "our Al Bagnoli" and coaching stability; we're far more likely to have that with Archer than we were with Auby Josh '99 - Other Sports

cbuckser Trotsky Robb Also don't forget Bruce Arena Holy shit. Had no idea about this. In addition, former football coach Kent Austin is leading the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to this Sunday's Grey Cup in Regina, SK.Taking any kind of credit for Kent Austin on the basis of three years when he was already a well established coach seems like a bit of a stretch.by Josh '99 - Other Sports
Re: The Real Reason Harvard Sucks at Hockey - 10 years ago
Kyle Rose ursusminor Seriously, I would think that students who are admitted to a highly selective college, as Harvard is, would have read enough, whether it is books, newspapers or the Internet, that they would have picked up this information, even if it was never taught to them. I just don't buy this argument. I read probably more than 5,000,000 news-ish words each year and listen to the audioby Josh '99 - Hockey

BearLover RichHJust get in, and it's "why not us?" Yale did exactly that. Yet another reason why I'd rather be dominating the ECAC every year But the same contributing factors (especially broader dispersion of talented players) have led to Cornell not dominating the ECAC every year and to the wide-open tournament field that RichH mentioned and you seem to agree is a good thing. Dafatone So, uh, is this the standard "people only post to complain when we lose" phenomenon? Cause we beat a ranked team, on the road, by three goals. Let's be happy!Naysayers might suggest that it might've been a different game if not for the fact that we scored on 3 of our first 5 shots (twice on the power play) against a goalie who was then pulled, an occurrence we can't generalby Josh '99 - Hockey
